Դիարբեքիրի Սուր գավառում թուրքական ռազմական ուժերի կողմից իրականացվող գործողություններին զուգահեռ Թուրքիայի Նախարարների խորհուրդը Սուրի տարբեր թաղամասերում բազմաթիվ շենքերի ու տարածքների անհապաղ օտարման մասին որոշում է կայացրել: Վկայակոչելով Ստամբու լի հայկական «Ակոս» պարբերականը, օտարման ենթարկված կառույցների թվում է նաև Միջին Արևելքի ամենամեծ հայկական եկեղեցին՝ Սուրբ Կիրակոսը։

Խորհրդի նույն որոշմամբ օտարման են ենթարկվում նաև Դիարբեքիրի ասորական, քաղդեական և բողոքական եկեղեցիները:

Թուրքիայի պաշտոնական տեղեկագրում մարտի 25-ի համարում ներկայացված էր Նախարարների խորհրդի՝ «անհապաղ օտարման» մասին որոշումը Դիարբեքիրի Սուր գավառի մասին։ Տեղեկության համաձայն՝ օտարման ենթարկելու որոշում է կայացվել Դիարբեքիրի Աբդալդեդե, Ալիփաշա, Ջեմալ Յըլմազ, Ջեմիքեբիր, Ջևաթփաշա, Դաբանօղլու, Հասըրլը, Ինոնյու, Իսքենդերփաշա, Լալեբեյ, Մալիքահմեդ, Օզդեմիր, Սուլեյմանգազի, Սավաշ, Շեմհանե, Զիյագյոքալփ և Յենիշեհիր թաղամասերում գտնվող մի շարք շենքերի ու տարածքների համար:

«Ակոս»-ի հետ զրույցում Դիարբեքիրի քաղաքապետարանի Մշակութային ժառանգության գրասենյակի նախագահ Նևին Սոյլուքայան հաստատել է, որ Սուրում գտնվող բոլոր եկեղեցիների և հիմնադրամներին պատկանող տարածքների օտարման որոշում է կայացվել։ Նա նաև հայտնել է, որ օտարման ցանկի մեջ կան քաղաքապետարանին պատկանող ունեցվածքներ, և որ իրենք սրա հետ կապված դատական գործընթաց են սկսելու։ Սոյլուքայան տեղեկացրել է, թե անհրաժեշտ է, որ սեփականատերերը նույնպես դատական գործընթաց սկսեն:

Սուրում 124 մոնումենտալ, 410 քաղաքացիական ճարտարապետական կառույցներ կան։

Դիարբեքիրի Սուրբ Կիրակոս եկեղեցին, մնալով առանց կրոնական համայնքի, տարիներ շարունակ թողնվել է բախտի քմահաճույքին։ Հիմնադրամներին առնչվող օրենսդրական փոփոխություններից հետո Ստամբուլում բնակվող դիարբեքիրցիները վերստեղծել են հիմնադրամը և սկսել վերականգնման աշխատանքները: Եկեղեցին վերականգնվել էր տարբեր երկրներից ստացված օգնության շնորհիվ։ Եկեղեցու վերականգնման աշխատանքների համար մոտ 2 մլն թուրքական լիրա էր ծախսվել։  

2012 թվականի նոյեմբերի 4-ին` 32 տարվա ընդմիջումից հետո այստեղ կատարվել է վերանորոգմանը հաջորդած առաջին եկեղեցական արարողությունը: Նույն օրը եկեղեցում տեղի է ունեցել նաև առաջին պսակադրությունը:
