Կիպրոսի նախագահ Անաստասիադիսը հայտարարել Է, որ եգիպտական ինքնաթիռի առեւանգումը կապված չԷ ահաբեկչության հետ, տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը՝ հղում անելով «Ասոշիեյթեդ պրես» գործակալությանը:
Միեւնույն ժամանակ Կիպրոսի ԱԳ նախարարության ներկայացուցիչ Ալեքսանդրոս Զենոնը E-Tele ֆրանսիական հեռուստաալիքի եթերում հաստատել Է, որ Ալեքսանդրիայից Կահիրե մեկնող A320 ինքնաթիռը մեկ մարդ Է գրավել, որն առայժմ ոչ մի պահանջ չի առաջադրել:
«Ներկա պահին մենք տեղեկատվություն ունենք միայն այն մասին, որ ինքնաթիռը մեկ մարդ Է գրավել: Նա առայժմ ոչ մի պահանջ չի առաջադրել»,-պարզաբանել Է Զենոնը:
Մինչդեռ, ինչպես հաղորդել են եգիպտական ԶԼՄ-ները, ինքնաթիռի առեւանգիչն ազատ Է արձակել եւս հինգ պատանդների: Առայժմ հայտնի չԷ՝ խոսքն ուղեւորների, թե անձնակազմի անդամների մասին Է:
Նշվում Է, որ ինքնաթիռի օդաչուներն ու բորտուղեկցորդները հրաժարվում են լքել ինքնաթիռն այնքան ժամանակ, քանի դեռ առեւանգիչը՝ եգիպտացի Իբրահիմ Սամահան, չի ազատել բոլոր ուղեւորներին, հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
