Վաշինգտոնում մեկնարկում է Միջուկային անվտանգության 2016թ. գագաթնաժողովը: Այն կտևի երեք օր, որի ընթացքում ելույթներ կունենան մի շարք երկրների ղեկավարներ, միջուկային հարցերի համար պատասխանատու նախարարներ, խոշոր միջուկային ընկերությունների գործադիր տնօրեններ: Ապրիլի 1-ին գագաթնաժողովը կամփոփվի միջուկային արդյունաբերության վերաբերյալ ցուցադրությամբ: Գագաթնաժողովը կղեկավարի Միջուկային էներգիայի ինստիտուտի տնօրեն Մարտին Ֆերտելը, իսկ հիմնական զեկուցողն է ՄԱԿ-ի Ատոմային էներգիայի միջազգային գործակալության գլխավոր քարտուղար Յուկիա Ամանոն:
Այս տարվա գագաթնաժողովի թեմատիկ հիմնական երեք ուղղություններն են ռազմավարական միջուկային և ռադիոլոգիական նյութերի օգտագործման, տեղակայման և տեղափոխման անվտանգությունը, կիբեր վտանգների նկատմամբ արձագանքը և գլոբալ միջուկային արդյունաբերության դերը: Գագաթնաժողովը կազմակերպում է Միջուկային էներգիայի ինստիտուտը:
Միջուկային անվտանգության գագաթնաժողովին ներկա գտնվելու նպատակով Վաշինգտոնում է նաև ՀՀ Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը: Հայաստանի ղեկավարը մասնակցել է նախկինում տեղի ունեցած բոլոր երեք Միջուկային անվտանգության գագաթնաժողովներին` 2010թ. Վաշինգտոնում, 2012թ. Սեուլում և 2014թ. Հաագայում:
