«Եթե դուք ամեն օր աշխատանքի եք գնում նույն ճանապարհով, եթե դուք տանը կամ սննդի օբյեկտում պահանջում եք միևնույն ուտելիքը, եթե դուք մի քանի անգամ վերընթերցում եք նույն գիրքը, եթե անընդհատ լսում եք նույն հեղինակի կամ նույն ոճի երաժշտություն, եթե 100-րդ անգամ անցնում եք ֆեյսբուքի միևնույն ժապավենով, ուրեմն դուք, անկախ տարիքից, դատապարտում եք ձեր ուղեղի բջիջները անգործության: Իսկ դրանք մարզվելու կարիք ունեն՝ ճիշտ այնպես, ինչպես մարմնի մկանները: Բայց ինչպես մենք, որպես կանոն, զլանում ենք գոնե 5 րոպե մարզանք անել, այդպես էլ սովորաբար չենք շտապում աշխատեցնել մեր ուղեղը և 40 տարեկանից հետո բողոքում ենք՝ «էլ առաջվանը չեմ»: Ցածր ինքնագնահատականը «խթանում է» ծուլության խորացումը՝ «չէ, էլ հեչ բանի պետք չեմ»:
Եվ հակառակը՝ եթե դուք թվաբանական գործողություններ եք կատարում մտքում, ոչ հաշվիչով, եթե բանաստեղծություններ եք անգիր անում, եթե փորձում եք ծանոթանալ տարբեր լեզուների, եթե նախապաշարված չեք երաժշտական ոչ մի ոճի, ապա դուք ձեր ուղեղը պահում եք «լավ մարզավիճակում», և ոչ 40, ոչ 50, ոչ էլ 90 տարեկանում չեք բողոքի «ծերունական դրսևորումներից»: «Ուղեղի ծերության» մասին պատկերացումներն, իմ կարծիքով, նախապաշարմունք են՝ ամեն ինչ մեր ձեռքում է:
