Ապրիլի 1-ի լույս 2-ի գիշերը Ադրբեջանը  ղարաբաղա-ադրբեջանական շփման գծի երկայնքով դիմել է բացահայտ հարձակողական գործողությունների՝ օգտագործելով տարբեր զինատեսակներ, այդ թվում՝ հրետանի, զրահատեխնիկա ու օդուժ։

Առաջնագծում սկսված մարտերի ժամանակ Ադրբեջանը  հրթիռահրետակոծել է խաղաղ բնակավայրերը և  մի շարք զորամասեր՝ փորձելով ներխուժել ԼՂՀ ՊԲ պաշտպանության խորքը եւ գրավել Պաշտպանության բանակի մարտավարական դիրքերը։

Հակառակորդի գործողությունների հետևանքով Մարտունու շրջանում 12 տարեկան հայ տղա է զոհվել, եւս երկու երեխա վիրավորվել է։ ԼՂՀ ՊԲ ակտիվ գործողությունների արդյունքում հակառակորդը  հետ է մղվել՝ տալով բազմաթիվ կորուստներ։

ՊԲ հակաօդայինները շփման գոտու հյուսիսային հատվածում խոցել են հայկական դիրքերի ուղղությամբ գրոհող թշնամական երկու ուղղաթիռ, երկու անօդաչու սարք եւ երեք տանկ:

Բացի այդ, ՊԲ հատուկ նշանակության ստորաբաժանման կողմից հայտնաբերվել եւ ոչնչացվել է հակառակորդի դիվերսիոն հետախուզական խումբ, որը թողնելով դիակներ`  նահանջել է:

Ղարաբաղա-ադրբեջանական հակամարտ զորքերի շփման գծի ողջ երկայնքով շարունակվում են ռազմական բախումները, առավել թեժ՝ Հադրութի եւ Մարտակերտի ուղղություններով:

Արցախի նախագահ Բակո Սահակյանն ապրիլի 2-ին հրավիրել է Անվտանգության խորհրդի նիստ: 

Երեկոյան Ազգային անվտանգության խորհրդի նիստ է հրավիրել նաեւ Սերժ Սարգսյանը: Նա առաջիկա ժամերին կլինի Հայաստանում: ԱՄՆ-ից վերադարձի ճանապարհին նախագահին անմիջապես զեկուցել են շփման գծում իրավիճակի մասին:

Լայնածավալ ռազմական գործողություններից խուսափելու համար՝ ՀՀ պաշտպանության նախարարությունը միջազգային հանրությանը եւ հատկապես ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահներին կոչ է անում անհապաղ հասցեական միջամտություն ցուցաբերել:

ՀՀ Արտաքին գործերի նախարարությունը տարածել է հայտարարություն, որում ասվում է. « Ադրբեջանի գործողությունների լայնածավալ բնույթը, օգտագործված զինատեսակները եւ թիրախների ընտրությունը խոսում են այն մասին, որ Բաքուն գնում է իրավիճակի հետեւողական լարման ճանապարհով, ինչը հրամայական է դարձնում Ադրբեջանին կարգի հրավիրելու նպատակով միջազգային հանրության գործնական քայլերի իրականացումը»:

Միջազգային առաջին արձագանքը, սակայն, կրկին անհասցե էր: Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինը կոչ է արել անհապաղ դադարեցնել կրակը եւ զսպվածություն դրսեւորել:

ԵԱՀԿ գործող նախագահի անձնական ներկայացուցիչ Անջեկ Կասպշիկը նույնպես տեղեկացված է իրավիճակի սրման մասին, սակայն ոչ նա, ոչ էլ նրա դաշտային օգնականները դեռ չեն ժամանել Լեռնային Ղարաբաղ:
