Սիրիական բանակի զինվորներն ու աշխարհազորայինների ջոկատները գրավել են Էլ Քարյաթեյն քաղաքը: Կառավարական ուժերը դուրս են շպրտել այնտեղից «Իսլամական պետության» ահաբեկիչներին:Այդ մասին գրում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը ՝ հղում տալով «Ալ Մայադին» հեռուստաալիքին:

Ուղղաթիռները օդից հարվածներ են հասցնում նրանց կրակակետերին: Սակրավորները ականազերծում են Էլ Քարյաթեյնը ծայրամասերի մոտ գտնվող անցուղիները: 

Այս ռազմավարական բնակավայրի գրավումը, որը գտնվում է Հոմս, Պալմիրա և Դամասկոս քաղաքներ տանող ճանապարհների հատման տեղում, սկսվել է երեքշաբթի օրը: Զորքերը մոտեցել են քաղաքին երեք ուղղություններից՝ հյուսիս-արևմուտքից, արևմուտքից և հարավից: ԻՊ-ի  զինյալները դուրս են շպրտվել քաղաքը շրջապատող բարձուքներից, ինչը կանխորոշել է ճակատամարտի ելքը:

Սիրիայի եւ Ռուսաստանի ավիացիայի աջակցությամբ  սիրիական զորքերը հնագույն քաղաք Պալմիրայում ահաբեկիչներին պարտության մատնելուց և քաղքից վռնդելուց մեկ շաբաթ անց ավարտում են նաև Էլ Քարյաթեյնի ազատագրումը: Քրիտոնյաներով բնակեցված Էլ Քարյաթեյն քաղաքը ահաբեկիչները գրավել էին 2015 թ. օգոստոսի 4-ին: Բնակիչների մեծ մասը փախել է Հոմս քաղաք:

ՍԱՆԱ  լրատվական գործակալության փոխանցմամբ՝ զորքերը շարունակում են շարժվել Պալմիրայից դեպի Եփրատ և Իրաքի սահմաններ: Նույն աղբյուրը նաև տեղեկացնում է, որ ուրբաթ օրը Պալմիրայից դեպի հյուսիս ընկած հատվածում գտնվել են ահաբեկիչների զոհ դարձած 42 մարդկանց դիակներ: Նրանց թվում են 18 սիրիացի զինծառայողներ և նրանց ընտանիքի անդամները՝ կանայք և երեխաներ: Սիրիական իշխանությունները սկսել են հետաքննել ԻՊ իրականացրած այս նոր արյունահեղ հանցագործությունը:
