Այսօր Ադրբեջանի նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևը բավականին ուշագրավ հայտարարություն է արել՝ կապված հրադադարի վերահաստատաման հետ։ Ադրբեջանական բանակի վիրավոր զինծառայողների այցելության ժամանակ, Ալիեվը հայտարարել է․ 
 
«Մեր երկրի տարածքային ամբողջականությունը երբեք չի եղել ու չի լինի քննարման թեմա։ Եթե այսօր Հայաստանի ղեկավարությունն ընդունի իր սխալները, անկեղծ գործի բանակցությունների հարցում, ապա հիմքեր կան հարցը խաղաղ կարգավորելու համար։
Մենք ցանկանում ենք դա։ Ադրբեջանն այսօր էլ հայտարարում է, որ միակողմանիորեն դադարեցնում է բոլոր մարտական գործողությունները, բայց մեկ պայմանով․ հակառակ կողմը չպետք է օգտագործի դա։ Թող նրանք դադարեն ու տեղներից չշարժվեն»։
 
Անկախ ամեն ինչից ու հետագա զարգացումներից, մի բան կարելի է վստահորեն պնդել կապված այս խոսքերի հետ․ սա հաղթանակած առաջոներդի խոսքեր չէին։ Սա ավելի շուտ վտիտ ակկնարկ-խնդրանք էր, որը թարգամանաբար նշանակում է, որ ամեն ինչ կարող է առաջվա պես լինել, միայն թե պետք է հայերն էլ հավատարիմ մնան ջենթլմենական համաձայնությունը ու զորքերը առաջ չտան։ Այսինքն, կարելի է ենթադրել, որ Ադրբեջանի կորուստները այնքան մեծ են, իսկ ձեռքբերումներն՝ այնքան չնչին (եթե կան այդպիսիք), որ Ալիևևն ակնհայտորեն չի ցանակնում բախումների շարունակում, քանի որ դրանք հղի են էլ ավելի կատաստրոֆիկ հեռանկարներով։
