Սիրիայի կառավարությունը չի առարկում Ժնեւում ընդդիմության մասնակցությամբ բանակցությունների արդյունքում խորհրդարանական նոր ընտրություններ անցկացնելուն: Այդ մասին, ինչպես տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը, ՏԱՍՍ-ին տված հարցազրույցում հայտարարել Է Սիրիայի արտաքին գործերի փո խնախարար Ֆեյսալ Միկդադը:

«Եթե Ժնեւի բանակցությունների ընթացքում որոշում ընդունվի խորհրդարանական ընտրություններ անցկացնելու անհրաժեշտության մասին, ապա դրանք տեղի կունենան: Սիրիայի ղեկավարությունը առարկություններ չունի նոր ընտրությունների անցկացման հարցում»,-ասել Է նա:

Ինչպես նշել Է Միկդադը, բանակցությունների արդյունքներին համապատասխան, բացառված չԷ խորհրդարանի բարեփոխումը: «Նույնիսկ խորհրդարանի անվանումը կարելի Է փոխել նոր սահմանադրության համաձայն,-ընդգծել Է նա:-Կարելի Է ստեղծել երկպալատ խորհրդարան, այժմ այն միապալատ Է»:

Սիրիայի ԱԳ փոխնախարարն ասել Է, որ նոր խորհրդարանն այդ դեպքում կընտրվի նոր սահմանադրությանը համապատասխան, որը կպատրաստի ազգային միասնության կառավարությունը: «Ուստի չկա ոչ մի առարկություն, որ այժմ անցկացվեն նոր ընտրություններ, եւ որ նոր ընտրություններ անցկացվեն Ժնեւի բանակցությունների արդյունքների հիման վրա»,-հավելել Է նա:

Ինչպես արդեն տեղեկացվել Է, Սիրիայում ապրիլի 12-ին «լռության օր» է հայտարարված Ժողովրդական խորհրդի (խորհրդարանի) ընտրություններից առաջ: Ընտրական հանձնաժողովի նախագահ դատավոր Հիշամ աշ Շաարը նշել է, որ ժամը 7:00-ից երկրում կարգելվի ցանկացած քարոզչական գործունեություն:

Աշ Շաարը հավաստել է, որ «ժողովրդական կամարտահայտության ընթացակարգի անցկացման բոլոր նախապատրաստություններն ավարտված են»: Ըստ նրա տեղեկությունների՝ ընտրությունների օրը՝ ապրիլի 13-ին, Դամասկոսում եւ նահանգային քաղաքներում կաշխատեն 7 հազարից ավելի ընտրական տեղամասեր: Կարգի պահապաններըմ նրա խոսքով, «երաշխավորում են քաղաքացիների անվտանգ ու անարգել մուտքը ընտրական տեղամասեր եւ նրանց կողմից իրենց սահմանադրական իրավունքի իրականացումը»:

Ժողովրդական խորհուրդը բաղկացած է 250 պատգամավորներից, որոնք համընդհանուր, ուղղակի եւ գաղտնի քվեարկությամբ ընտրվում են չորս տարի ժամկետով:
