Facebook-ը ամենահայտնի սոցիալական ցանցն է աշխարհում, որը «ծնվել է» 2004թ. փետրվարի 4-ին Հարվարդի հանրակացարաններից մեկում: Այն նախապես կոչվել է thefacebook.com:

Ի սկզբանե դրա գաղափարն այն էր, որ ստեղծվի անունների, ազգանունների ու Հարվարդի ուսանողների լուսանկարների էլեկտրոնային կատալոգ:

Facebook-ի հիմնադիրներ Մարկ Ցուկերբերգը, Դասթին Մոսկովիցը, Էդուադո Սավերնին ու Քրիս Հյուզը չէին սպասում, որ մի քանի տարի անց իրենց փոքրիկ սթարթափը կդառնա աշխարհում խոշորագույն օնլայն նախագիծը:

Ներկայումս Facebook-ից օգտվում է ավելի քան 1,3 մլրդ մարդ: Ներկայացնենք հետաքրքիր փաստեր սոցցանցի մասին:

Ի՞նչ ընդհանուր բան ունի Facebook-ը Ալ Պաչինոյի հետ: Պարզվում է, որ thefacebook-ի նախնական վարկածում սոցցանցի լոգոտիպում նկարվել է խորհրդավոր մարդ, որին օգտատերերն անվանեցին «հյուր Facebook-ից»: Տարիներ անց պարզվեց, որ այդ խորհրդավոր կերպարը ոչ այլ ոք է, քան երիտասարդ Ալ Պաչինոն:

2. Facebook և Beacon

Beacon-ը գովազդային համակարգ է, որ ստեղծվել է Facebook-ի կողմից, որը հավաքում էր տեղեկություններ իր օգտատերերի մասին այլ կայքերում (Facebook-ից դուրս) առանց նրանց համաձայնության՝ ստեղծելով պրոֆիլացված գովազդային ընկերություններ: Ինչպես և եթադրվում էր, դա ավարտվեց Facebook-ի դեմ կոլեկտիվ հայցով:

3. Facebook և Քրիս Փաթնեմ

2006թ. Քրիս Փաթնեմը՝ Georgia Southern University-ի ուսանողը, ստեղծեց վիրուս, որը Facebook-ի ադմինիստրացիայի «արյունը շատ» պղտորեց: «Փաթնեմ» որդը փոխեց սոցցանցի օգտատերերի պրոֆիլների արտաքին տեսքը, ինչից հետո դրանք նմանվում էին MySpace սոցցանցի էջերին: Որպես «վրեժ»՝ Facebook-ի հիմնադիրներից Դեն Մոսկովիցը Քրիսին աշխատանք առաջարկեց ընկերությունում:

4. Facebook և Դասթին Մոսկովից

Դասթին Մոսկովիցը հանրակացարանում Ցուկերբերգի հարևանն էր ու Facebook-ի համահիմնադիրներից: Նրա և Ցուկերբերգի հարաբերությունները վատացան, երբ Facebook-ի թիմին միացավ Շոն Փարքերը:

2008թ. հոկտեմբերին նա լքեց Facebook-ը և սկսեց իր սթարթափը՝ «Ասանան»: 2010թ. Forbes-ը Դասթին Մոսկովիցին ճանաչեց աշխարհում ամենաերիտասարդ միլիարդատերը:

5. Facebook-ն ու Հարվարդի կատալոգը

Իր անվանումը սոցցանցը ստացավ Հարվարդի կատալոգի անվանումից, որտեղ հավաքված էին ուսումնական հաստատության ուսանողների լուսանկարներն ու օգտահաշիվները: Ի սկզբանե դրա օգտատերերը Հարվարդի ուսանողներն էին:
