Հռոմի պապ Ֆրանցիսկոսը ժամանել է Հունաստանի Լեսբոս կղզի` իր աջակցությունը ցուցաբերելու այնտեղ գտնվող ներգաղթյալներին, ովքեր լավ կյանքի ակնկալիքով փորձում են հասնել հյուսիսային Եվրոպա: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին տեղեկացնում է BBC գործակալությունը:

Հռոմի պապը կայցելի ներգաղթյալների ճամբար, որտեղ պահվում են շուրջ 3 հազար մարդ, ում սպառնում է դեպի Թուրքիա արտաքսումը: Դեպի Լեսբոս ուղևորության ընթացքում ինքնաթիռում Ֆրանիսկոսը նշել է. «Այս ճանապարհորդությունն առանձնանում է տխրությամբ... Մենք ականատեսն ենք լինելու Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմից հետո գրանցված վատագույն մարդկային աղետին: Մենք կտեսնենք շատ մարդկանց, ովքեր տառապում ենք, փախչում ու չգիտեն, թե ուր գնան: Մենք նաև գնալու ենք գերեզման` ծով: Այնքան շատ մարդիկ այդպես էլ չկարողացան հասնել կղզի»:

Հռոմի պապին դիմավորել են Հունաստանի վարչապետ Ալեքսիս Ցիպրասը, Համայն ուղղափառ եկեղեցու պատրիարք Բարդուղիմեոսը և Աթենքի ու համայնք Հելլադայի արքեպիսկոպոս Հերոնիմոս Բ-ն: Հռոմի պապը ճամբարում հանդիպելու է ներգաղթյալների երեխաներին և մեկ րոպե լռությամբ հարգելու է նրանց հիշատակը, ովքեր ծովում խորտակվել են` չհասնելով հունական կղզիներ:

Ֆրանցիսկոսի այցի նախօրեին մեկ սիրիացի փախստական փորձ է արել ճամբարում ինքնասպանություն գործել այն բանից հետո, ինչ նրան ասել են, որ արտաքսվելու է Թուրքիա:

Վատիկանից հայտնել են, որ Հռոմի պապի այցը մարդասիրական և կրոնական բնույթ ունի և չպետք է դիտարկվի, որպես արտաքսման քաղաքականությանն ուղղված քննադատություն: Այդուհանդերձ, Վատիկանի ներկայացուցիչ կարդինալ Անտոնիո Մարիա Վեգլիոն նշել է, որ փախստականների վերաբերյալ ԵՄ-Թուրքիա համաձայնությունը վերաբերում է ներգաղթյալներին որպես առևտրի առարկա և չի ճանաչում նրանց արժանապատվությունը որպես մարդկային էակ:
