Շարքային զինծառայող Հրայր Բաղդասարյանը ապրիլի 1-ի գիշերը, դիրքերում գտնվող ընկերներին ու հրամանատարին կորցնելուց հետո, շարունակել է միայնակ կռիվ մղել տասնյակների հասնող հակառակորդի դեմ: Իր հերթապահության ժամն է եղել, երբ կեսգիշերն անց ադրբեջանական զորքը սկսել է ականանետներով կրակել հյուսիս-արևելյան սահմանում գտնվող իրենց դիրքին: Այդ պահին դիրքում 9 հոգով են եղել. 6-ը մարտի ժամանակ զոհվել են, երկուսը` վիրավորվել:
Երբ ուղղաթիռն ու ականանետները սկսել են հրետակոծել, դասակի հրամանատարի հրամանով բոլորը մտել են կացարան: Մի քանի ժամ շարունակ կրակել են կառույցի վրա, որն արդեն կիսափլվել էր: Հրայրն առաջարկել է դուրս գալ կացարանից` կրակի ուղղությունը փոխելու. այդպես էլ արել են:
Երբ հրետակոծությունը փոքր-ինչ դադարել է, դասակի հրամանատարն ու Հրայրը դուրս են եկել` դիտարկում անցկացնելու: Այդ պահին էլ տեսել են, որ հակառակորդի տասնյակ զինվորներ իրենցից 30-40 մետր հեռավորության վրա են: Միանգամից անցել են պաշտպանության ու սկսել կրակել հակառակորդի վրա: Նրանց միացել են նաև մյուս ծառայակիցները:
Հարձակման նախորդ օրը հյուսիս-արևելյան այս դիրքում Հրայրն ու զինակից ընկերները կանխել էին դիվերսիոն ներթափանցման մի փորձ, որի արդյունքում հակառակորդը մի քանի զոհ էր ունեցել: Ապրիլի 1-ի գիշերը նրանք սպասում էին նոր գործողության, փամփուշտներ էին խնդրել թիկունքից, սակայն զինամթերք բերող մեքենան ճանապարհին խոցվել էր հակառակորդի կողմից:
