Իսրայելի նախարարների կաբինետի նիստի ժամանակ, որն առաջին անգամ տեղի է ունեցել Գոլանի բարձունքներում, վարչապետ Բենիամին Նեթանյահուն հայտարարել է, որ այդ կարևոր ռազմավարական շրջանը միշտ կմնա Իսրայելի կազմում: Իսրայելի նման` Սիրիան էլ է այդ տարածքը համարում իր երկրի մաս, հայտնում է korrespondent.net-ը:
Իսրայելի կարծիքով` այս օրերին Սիրիայի ապագայի մասին Ժնևում տեղի ունեցող բանակցություններում Սիրիայի իշխանությունները հավանաբար կպահանջեն վերադարձնել Գոլանի բարձունքները:
Jerusalem Post պարբերականը մեջբերում է Իսրայելի վարչապետի խոսքը. «Ես գումարել եմ այս նիստը, որպեսզի պարզ ուղերձ փոխանցեմ. Գոլանի բարձունքները հավերժ կմնան Իսրայելի ձեռքում: Իսրայելը երբեք չի հեռանա Գոլանից»,- ասել է Նեթանյահուն:
Իսրայելը Սիրիայից գրավել է այդ տարածքը 1967 թվականի վեցօրյա պատերազմի ժամանակ, իսկ 1981 թվականին այդ շրջանը ներառվել է իսրայելական իրավասության տակ, որը փաստորեն նշանակել է բռնակցում: Այդ քայլը այդպես էլ միջազգային ճանաչում չի ստացել:
