Իռլանդիան պետք է ճանաչի Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը. «Մի իռլանդացու օրագիր» The Irish Times-ում

1916 թվականի ապրիլի 24-ը համարվում է իռլանդական պետության հիմնադրման տարեթիվը, մինչդեռ դրանից ուղիղ մեկ տարի առաջ` 1915 թվականի ապրիլի 24-ին աշխարհի մյուս ծայրում` Կոստանդնուպոլսում սկսվեց այն, ինչ Հռոմի Ֆրանցիսկոս պապն անվանեց «20-րդ դարի առաջին ցեղասպանություն»: Ինչպես հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը, այս մասին հոդված է հրապարակել The Irish Times պարբերականը` վերնագրելով այն «Մի իռլանդացու օրագիր Հայոց ցեղասպանության մասին» վերտառությամբ:
Հոդվածի հեղինակը`Բրենդան օ'Քաթաօիրը գրում է, որ «թուրքացման» քաղաքականության հետևանքով Օսմանյան կայսրության տարածքում բնակվող հայերի ավելի քան կեսը զոհվեց: Հարյուր հազարավոր մարդիկ մահացան տարագրման ճանապարհին` սովից և հիվանդություններից, հրոսակախմբերի հարձակումներից: Ավելի ուշ նացիստական Գերմանիայի առաջնորդ Հիտլերն իր գեներալների ներկայությամբ հիշատակեց հենց հայերի հետ կատարվածը` նշելով. «Ո՞վ է այսօր խոսում հայերի ոնչացման մասին»: Դրանով իսկ նա փորձում էր ապահովագրել իր ենթականերին, որ նրանք ևս անպատիժ կմնան, ինչպեÕ ½ թուրքական կառավարությունը:
Հեղինակը գրում է, որ այսօր Թուրքիան սպառնում է փակել օդային ռազմաբազաները ԱՄՆ-ի և Մեծ Բրիտանիայի համար, եթե դրանք կիրառեն «ցեղասպանություն» եզրույթը:
«Հայաստանն առաջին երկիրն է, որը որպես կրոն պաշտոնապես ընդունել է քրիստոնեությունը: Հայերը սգում են ոչ միայն ցեղասպանության, այլև մշակութային ժառանգության կորստի համար, որը վավերագրել էր ավելի քան 3 հազար տարվա պատմություն: Որպես արդարության վերականգման միջոց` Իռլանդիան պետք է միանա այն 20 ազգային խորհրդարաններին, որոնք ճանաչել են մարդկության դեմ իրականացված հանցագործությունը` որպես ցեղասպանություն»,- եզրափակել է հոդվածի հեղինակը:
