Կալիֆոռնիայի նահանգային օրենսդիր մարմինը հարգել է Հայոց ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակը

Ամերիկայի հայկական խորհրդի (Armenian Council of America) պատվիրակությունը մասնակցել է Հայոց ցեղասպանության հարցով ամենամյա խորհրդատվական օրվան:
«Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ` massispost.com-ը գրում է, որ Հայոց ցեղասպանության հիշատակման 101-րդ տարելիցին նվիրված միջոցառումը տեղի է ունեցել Կալիֆոռնիայի հայկական օրենսդիր հանձնախմբի հովանավորությամբ Կալիֆոռնիայում ապրիլի 18-ին:
Նահանգային ասամբլեայում ԱՄՆ Հայոց արևմտյան թեմի առաջնորդտեր Հովնան արքեպիսկոպոս Տերտերյանի գլխավորությամբ կազմակերպվել է անմեղ զոհերի հիշատակին նվիրված արարողություն: Արքեպիսկոպոս Տերտերյանը հարգանքի տուրք է մատուցել Հայոց ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակին և քննարկել Արցախում տիրող իրավիճակը`դատապարտելով Արցախի հայ բնակչության նկատմամբ ադրբեջանական կողմի բռնի գործողությունները և հույս հայտնելով, որ մի օր Արցախն ազատ և ինքնիշխան պետություն կլինի:
Ասամբլեայի անդամները ներկայացրել են վեհաժողովի համատեղ 34-րդ բանաձևը (Assembly Joint Resolution 34), որն ԱՄՆ նախագահին և Կոնգրեսին կոչ է անում պաշտոնապես վերահաստատել այն պատմական ճշմարտությունը, որ հայ ժողովրդի նկատմամբ իրագործվել է ցեղասպանություն:
Ասամբլեայի անդամ Քրիս Հոլդենը, կարևորելով ամերիկահայերի դերակատարությունն ԱՄՆ-ում, նշել է. «Ես կանգնած եմ հայ համայնքի կողքին»: Ասամբլեայի անդամ Սքոթ Ուիլքն էլ անհրաժեշտ է համարել, որ Կալիֆոռնիայի դասագրքերում ներառվի Ցեղասպանությանն առնչվող նյութ: Բանաձևը միաձայն`76 կողմ ձայնով, ընդունվել է ասամբլեայում:
Դրանից հետո Կալիֆոռնիայի սենատի նախագահ Քևին դե Լեոնը ներկայացրել է բանաձև, որտեղ կարևորել է Ցեղասպանության ճանաչումը ոչ միայն ԱՄՆ և մյուս երկրների տեսանկյունից, այլև ընդգծել է, որ դա անհրաժեշտություն է հենց թուրքական կառավարության համար`դադարեցնելու ժխտողականության քարոզչությունը, որպեսզի ապագայում հնարավոր կոտորածները կանխարգելվեն: Այն ևս ընդունվել է միաձայն:
