Աշխարհահռչակ շանսոնյե Շառլ Ազնավուրը ևս միացել է ծանր հիվանդ Լևոն Հայրապետյանի պատժի տեսակի փոփոխման հարցով Ռուսաստանի Նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինին հասցեագրված բաց նամակին: Այս մասին հայտնում են «Ազատություն Լևոն Հայրապետյանին» քաղաքացիական նախաձեռնությունից՝ նշելով, որ դրա տակ արդեն ավելի քան հիսուն հազար մարդ է ստորագրել:

Նամակում, մասնավորապես, ասվում է.

«Հարգելի՛ պարոն Պուտին,

Մեզ չեն դադարում անհանգստացնել գործարար, մեծ բարերար Լևոն Հայրապետյանի շուրջ զարգացող իրադարձությունները: Այս ծայրահեղ հիվանդ մարդը երկրորդ կարգի հաշմանդամ է, տարել է 4 կաթված, 2 ինֆարկտ, տառապում է օնկոլոգիական և ուրոլոգիական հիվանդություններով:
Հայրապետյանը մեծ արժանիքներ ունի ռուսական պետության առջև: Լինելով ակտիվ քաղաքացի` նա ամեն կերպ սատարել է զարգացման զանազան ծրագրերի: Ահռելի է Հայրապետյանի դերը հայ-ռուսական հարաբերությունների ամրապնդման հարցում, նա հարյուրավոր սոցիալական և բարեգործական ծրագրերի նախաձեռնողն է: Ավելորդ չենք համարում նշել, որ իր հայրենիքում՝ Հայաստանում, Հայրապետյանն իբրև հերոս է ընկալվում:

Ապրիլի 14-ին նա դատապարտվեց չափազանց կասկածելի մեղադրանքով՝ լի տասնյակ իրարամերժություններով: Նրա գործով տուժողը բազմաթիվ սպանությունների գործով ցմահ դատապարտված նախկին սենատոր Իգոր Իզմեստևն է, ինչն ինքնին նոնսենս է՝ դատել մարդուն ցմահ դատապարտված մարդասպանի դիմումի հիման վրա: Այս հանգամանքն, ինչպես նաև մեղադրանքում առկա բազմաթիվ հակասությունները, լուրջ կասկածներ են հարուցում այս գործի պատվիրված բնույթի առնչությամբ:

Ինչևէ, Լևոն Հայրապետյանը դատապարտվեց 4 տարվա ազատազրկման: Նրա հանդեպ չկիրառվեց անգամ պայմանական պատիժ կրելու ձևաչափը՝ հաշվի առնելով օրեցօր վատթարացող առողջական վիճակը: Հայրապետյանին անհրաժեշտ է ամենօրյա բժշկական հսկողություն. նման առողջությամբ բանտում նա պարզապես կենդանի չի մնա:
