ՀՀ  ԱԺ  փոխնախագահ,  ԱԺ  Հայաստան-Լատվիա, Լիտվա,  Էստոնիա բարեկամական  խմբիղեկավար  Էդուարդ Շարմազանովը ապրիլի 22-ին ՀՀ ԱԺ նախագահի հուշամեդալով պարգեւատրել է    Լատվիայի խորհրդարանի պատգամավոր, Լատվիա-Հայաստան  բարեկամական  խմբիղեկավար Սերգեյ Պոտապկինին:

Այս մասին  տեղեկացրին ՀՀ Ազգային ժողովի հասարակայնության և տեղեկատվության միջոցների հետ կապերի վարչությունից՝ հավելելով. «ԱԺ փոխնախագահ Էդուարդ Շարմազանովը բարձր է գնահատել լատիշ խորհրդարանականի ներդրումը հայ-լատվիական կապերի ամրապնդման եւ սերտացման գործում: ԱԺ փոխնախագահը կարեւորել է Սերգեյ Պոտապկինի ղեկավարությամբ գործող Լատվիա-Հայաստան բարեկամական խմբի աշխատանքը եւ խմբի հայտարարությունը, որով նա 2015 թվականին դատապարտել է 100 տարի առաջ տեղի ունեցած Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը՝ չնայելով այն հանգամանքին, որ Լատվիան դեռեւս չի ճանաչել այն: Էդուարդ Շարմազանովը բարձր է գնահատել նաեւ Սերգեյ Պոտապկինի քաղաքացիական խիզախությունը, ով հայ ժողովրդի համար այս ծանր օրերին այստեղ էր՝ Հայաստանում, ինչպես նաեւ Արցախում՝ եղբայր ժողովրդի կողքին: ԱԺ փոխնախագահի խոսքով, լատիշ պատգամավորի այցը Լեռնային Ղարաբաղ ցույց է տալիս, որ Արցախի ժողովուրդն իր պայքարում միայնակ չէ: Էդուարդ Շարմազանովը երախտագիտություն է հայտնել Սերգեյ Պոտապկինին՝ Հայաստան եւ Արցախ, «Եռաբլուր» պանթեոն այցելելու եւ խնդրի վերաբերյալ իրական տեղեկությունները եվրոպացի գործընկերներին հասցնելու պատրաստակամության համար:

Սերգեյ Պոտապկինը շնորհակալություն է հայտնել իր գործունեությունը գնահատելու եւ նման բարձր պարգեւի արժանանալու համար: «Հայ ժողովուրդըշատ ուժեղ է, եւ այն փորձությունները, որոնց միջով անցել է նա, միայն ուժեղացրել են նրան: Մաղթում եմ, որ այսուհետեւ հայ ժողովուրդըմիայն բարգավաճի եւ վերջ դրվի պատմական անարդարությու ններին»,-ասել է  Պոտապկինը:

Նա նաեւ տեղեկացրել է, որ մասնակցելու է «Ընդդեմ ցեղասպանության հանցագործության» գլոբալ համաժողովին, որը տեղի է ունենալու ապրիլի 23-ին»:
