ՀՀ ԱԺ փոխնախագահ Էդուարդ Շարմազանովն ապրիլի 23-ին հանդիպել է «Ընդդեմ ցեղասպանության հանցագործության» երկրորդ գլոբալ ֆորումին մասնակցելու նպատակով Հայաստան այցելած Կիպրոսի Հանրապետության Ներկայացուցիչների պալատի մարդու իրավունքների եւ տղամարդկանց ու կանանց հավասար հնարավորությունների հարցերով մշտական հանձնաժողովի նախագահ Սոֆոկլիս Ֆիտիսի հետ: Անդրադարձ է կատարվել ԼՂ հակամարտության կարգավորման խնդրին, Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման գործընթացին, կիպրոսաբնակ հայության, միջազգային խորհրդարանական հարթակներում փոխգործակցության խնդիրներին։

«Արմենպրես»-ին ՀՀ Ազգային ժողովի հասարակայնության և տեղեկատվության միջոցների հետ կապերի վարչութան փոխանցած հաղորդագրության մեջ նաև նշված է. «ԱԺ փոխնախագահը բարձր է գնահատել հայ-կիպրական եղբայրական հարաբերությունները՝ ընդգծելով, որ հայ եւ կիպրոսցի ժողովուրդներին կապում են ընդհանուր պատմությունն ու արժեքային համակարգը:

Էդուարդ Շարմազանովը խոսել է ԼՂ հակամարտության կարգավորման խնդրի, ինչպես նաեւ Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման գործընթացի մասին: Նա գոհունակությամբ է ընդգծել այն փաստը, որ Կիպրոսը ոչ միայն ճանաչել եւ դատապարտել է Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը, այլեւ 2015 թվականին ընդունել է ցեղասպանության ժխտումը քրեականացնող օրենք: Պարոն Շարմազանովի խոսքով՝ երկու բարեկամ ժողովուրդները տեսնում են Թուրքիայի հանցագործ քաղաքականությունը, որը շարունակական բնույթ է կրում: Այս համատեքստում Էդուարդ Շարմազանովը փաստել է, որ Թուրքիան, շրջափակման մեջ պահելով Հայաստնը, միակողմանիորեն պաշտպանում եւ սատարում է Ադրբեջանի հանցավոր քաղաքականությանը: Ապրիլի առաջին օրերին Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում ադրբեջանական ագրեսիայի զոհն են դարձել խաղաղ բնակիչներ, ԴԱԻՇ-ին բնորոշ ձեռագրով գլխատվել են զինվորներ: Էդուարդ Շարմազանովն ընդգծել է, որ Ղարաբաղի ժողովուրդը հզոր է եւ կարողացել է կասեցնել ադրբեջանական ագրեսիան: Նա հավելել է, որ արցախցիները շարունակելու են պայքարել իրենց ազատության եւ անկախության համար, իսկ Հայաստանը՝ որպես Արցախի ժողովրդի անվտանգության երաշխավոր, սատարել  է եւ սատարելու է ԼՂ ժողովրդին այդ պա յքարում: Պարոն Շարմազանովը երախտիքի խոսք է հայտնել Կիպրոսի իշխանություններին ապրիլյան իրադարձությունների վերաբերյալ հասցեական գնահատական հնչեցնելու կապակցությամբ. Կիպրոսի կառավարության հայտարարության մեջ հստակորեն նշվում է, որ Ադրբեջանն է մեղավորն, այդ երկիրն է սանձազերծել ագրեսիան:

Հանդիպման ընթացքում անդրադարձ է կատարվել կիպրոսաբնակ հայության խնդիրներին: Սոֆոկլիս Ֆիտիսն ընդգծել է, որ Կիպրոսում հայկական համայնքն ակտիվ է, մասնակցում է երկրի հասարակական-քաղաքական կյանքին՝ պահպանելով ազգային ավանդույթներն ու դիմագիծը: Խոսելով գլոբալ ֆորումի աշխատանքների մասին՝ պարոն Ֆիտիսը համոզմունք է հայտնել, որ ֆորումը վերաբերում է ոչ միայն հայերին ու Հայոց ցեղասպանությանը, այլեւ բոլոր այն ժողովուրդներին, որոնք բռնի տեղահանվել են իրենց բնակավայրերից:

Հանդիպման ընթացքում կողմերը կարեւորել են նաեւ միջազգային խորհրդարանական հարթակներում փոխգործակցության ակտիվացումը եւ միմյանց աջակցելը»:
