ԱՄՆ նախագահը հավատարիմ է իր հանձնառությանը. դեսպան Միլսը հարգեց Ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակը

ՀՀ-ում ԱՄՆ դեսպան Ռիչարդ Միլսի կարծիքով` Միացյալ Նահանգների նախագահ Բարաք Օբաման, հավատարիմ մնալով իր հանձնառություններին, շարունակում է աշխատել այն ուղղությամբ, որ լիարժեք, արդարացի և ամբողջական կերպով ճանաչվեն 1915 թվականի իրադարձությունները: Այս մասին Միլսը խոսեց ապրիլի 24-ին Ծիծեռնակաբերդի հուշահամալիրում` 1.5 միլիոն անմեղ զոհերի հիշատակին հարգանքի տուրք մատուցելու հետո:
«Ինձ համար այսօր պատիվ է ներկայացնել ԱՄՆ կառավարությանն ու ժողովրդին: Այսօր հարգանքի տուրք է մատուցվում այն դեպքերի հիշատակին, որն ԱՄՆ նախագահի խոսքերով 20-րդ դարի ողբերգություններից է: 100 տարի առաջ միլիոնավոր հայեր վայրագություններին զոհ գնացին, և այսօր մենք, մասնակցելով հիշատակի միջոցառմանն ու հարգանքի տուրք մատուցելով, մեր ներդրումն ենք ունենում, որ նման իրադարձություններ այլևս չկրկնվեն»,- նշեց Միլսը:
Անդրադառնալով լրագրողներից մեկի այն հարցին, թե ինչու Բարաք Օբաման այդպես էլ չկատարեց խոստումն ու չարտասանեց «Ցեղասպանություն» բառը` դեսպանն ասաց. «Կարծում եմ, որ ԱՄՆ նախագահը շատ հզոր հայտարարություն արեց: Նա դեպքերը հայտարարեց որպես որպես 20-րդ դարի վատթարագույն ողբերգություններից մեկը: ԱՄՆ նախագահը հավատարիմ է մնում այն հանձնառությանը, ինչին ձգտում ենք մենք բոլորս` իրադարձությունների արդարացի ու ամբողջական ճանաչում: Նա շարունակում է աշխատել այն ուղղությամբ, որ լիարժեք, արդարացի և ամբողջական կերպով ճանաչվեն անցյալի դեպքերը»:
Անդրադառնալով այն հարցին, թե կարող է Օբամայի նման ելույթի պատճառն այն է, որ չի ցանկանում փչացնել հարաբերությունները Թուրքիայի հետ, դեսպանն ընդգծեց. «ԱՄՆ նախագահը նշել է, որ իր նպատակը ճշմարտությունն է և երկու հասարակությունների միջև հաշտեցումը: Նա շարունակում է հավատարիմ մնալ այդ հանձնառությանը: Այսօր լինելով հավերժական կրակի մոտ` մեր հարգանքի տուրքն ենք մատուցում և մեկ անգամ ևս վերահաստատում մեր հանձնառությունը»:
