Շուրջ 1,5 միլիոն հայերի սպանության վերաբերյալ ցանկացած բանավեճ պարզապես քաղաքական շահարկում է. Ցեղասպանություն տեղի ունեցել է, դա պատահել է հայերի հետ, և այն մարդը, ով ստեղծել է այդ եզրույթը, ճանաչել է այդ փաստը: Այս մասին գրում է The Huffington Post պարբերականի սյունակագիր Հ. Ա. Գուդմանը իր հոդվածում, որը վերնագրել է «Միացյալ Նահանգները պետք է պաշտոնապես ճանաչի Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը»:
«Հայ ժողովրդի ցեղասպանությունը համապատասխանում է ցեղասպանություն եզրույթի հստակ բացատրությանը: Հիշում եմ, որ որպես Վաշինգտոնում սովորող ուսանող, ով պրակտիկա էր անցնում ԱՄՆ պետդեպում, այցելում էի Հոլոքոստի թանգարան: Թանգարանի մուտքի մոտ գտնվող պատին Ադոլֆ Հիտլերի խոսքերն էին այն մասին, որ քանի դեռ ոչ ոք չի խոսում հայերի կոտորածների մասին, հրեաների ապագա կոտորածները կջնջվեն պատմությունից»,- գրում է հեղինակը:
Նա նշում է, որ թեպետ աշխարհաքաղաքականությունը Միացյալ Նահանգներին խանգարում է «ցեղասպանություն» եզրույթն օգտագործելու հարցում, չկա որևէ կասկած, որ Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը պատմական փաստ է:
«Աշխարհը դեռ սպասում է, որ ԱՄՆ-ն Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը նկարագրելիս կիրառի «ցեղասպանություն» եզրույթը: Ցավալի է, որ աշխարհի ամենահզոր երկիրը դեռևս չունի բարոյական ոգու ուժ` ամբողջությամբ ճանաչելու հայերի հետ կատարվածը: Եվ առավել կարևոր է այն, որ ԱՄՆ նախագահը խոստացել էր օգտագործել այդ եզրույթն իր նախագահական քարոզարշավի ժամանակ»,- ընդգծում է Գուդմանը:
Նա հույս է հայտնում, որ ԱՄՆ հաջորդ նախագահը հարգանքի տուրք կմատուցի ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակին, այն ցեղասպանության, որն արդեն պաշտոնապես ճանաչել է ավելի քան 20 երկիր` այդ թվում և Ֆրանսիան, Շվեդիան, Ռուսաստանը, Վատիկանը և Կանադան: «Քաղաքականության և Թուրքիայի կառավարության կողմից իրականացվող ճնշումը պետք է ավարտվի: Այո, ԱՄՆ-ն պետք է որակի ԻԼԻՊ-ի կոտորածները որպես ցեղասպանություն, սակայն Հայոց ցեղասպանության դեպքում եզրույթի կիրառումից հրաժարվելը վիրավորանք է պատմությանը: Մենք պատասխանատու ենք ապագա սերունդների և նախկին կոտոր ածների զոհերի առաջ գործել այսօր` անկախ քաղաքական ճնշումներից: Միացյալ Նահանգները պետք է պաշտոնապես ճանաչի Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը: Մեր հաջորդ նախագահը պետք է կիրառի այն բառը, որը Ռաֆայել Լեմկինը ստեղծեց Օսմանյան կայսրությունում հայ ժողովրդի նկատմամբ իրականացված դեպքերի ուսումնասիրությունից հետո»,- եզրափակել է հոդվածը The Huffington Post-ի հեղինակը:
