Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի ժողովրդի անվտանգությունն ապահովելու համար անհրաժեշտ է ճանաչել Արցախի անկախությունը: Այս մասին «Արմենպրես»-ի մամուլի սրահում հրավիրված ասուլիսին նշեց Եվրոպական խորհրդարանի պատգամավոր, ԼՂՀ-ի հետ բարեկամության խմբի ղեկավար Ֆրանկ Էնգելը:

«Ապրիլի սկզբի չորսօրյա պատերազմից հետո առաջին անգամ եղա Ստեփանակերտում: Ես գտնում եմ, որ ինքս պետք է տեղում ծանոթանամ իրավիճակին: Եվ այն տպավորությունները, որ ստացա Արցախում, հաստատեցին իմ մտահոգությունները: Ադրբեջանի կողմից  սանձազերծած պատերազմական գործողություններն արդյունք են այն ատելության, որը տարիներ շարունակ ձևավորվում է Ադրբեջանի իշխանությունների կողմից:  Իրավիճակն ավելի է բարդացվում` պայմանավորված  այս ամենում Թուրքիայի ներգրավվածությամբ»,-ասաց Ֆրանկ Էնգելը:

Նա նշեց, որ այս պահին բանակցություները, քննարկումներն ընդհատված են, քանի որ իրավիճակն է այդպես թելադրում: Եվրախորհրդարանի պատգամավորը կարծում է, որ հիմա պետք է հարցը սուր դրվի և խոսվի Ղարաբաղի անկախության ճանաչման մասին:

«Միջազգային հանրությունը պարտավոր է պաշտպանել Արցախի ժողովրդին: Արդբեջանի միակ նպատակն է ոչնչացնել ԼՂՀ-ն և այն ամենն ինչ այնտեղ կա: Այլևս ոչ ոք որևէ կասկած չպետք է ունենա Ադրբեջանի ագրեսիայի հարցում: Դրա վառ ապացույցներ էին ծեր մարդկանց սպանությունը, նրանց ականջները կտրելը, զինվորներին գլխատելը և այդ ամենի լուսանկարները հպարտությմաբ շրջանառելը: Այս օրերին Հայոց ցեղասպանության 101-րդ տարելիցն է, և մենք պետք է հստակ հասկանանք, որ մեկ այլ ցեղասպանություն կարող է գործի դրվել»,-ասաց Եվրախորհրդարանի պատգամավորը: Նրա խոսքով, այս ամենը մի եզրակացության է բերում, այն է` Արցախի ժողովուրդը վտանգի մեջ է, և այն կարող է կանխվել միայն Արցախի ճանաչմամբ: Ֆրանկ Էնգելը նշեց, որ Եվրախորհրդարանում իր գործընկերների հետ ջանքեր է գործադրելու հասնելու համար Արցախի անկախությանը:
