Էդ Ռոյսը հիասթափված է Օբամայի ապրիլի 24-ի հայտարարությունից

Օսմանյան իշխանությունների ուղիղ հրամանով հայերին վերացնելու հաշվարկված և սառնասիրտ ծրագիրն անհերքելիորեն ցեղասպանություն է. հրամայական է, որ մենք այն ճանաչենք որպես այդպիսին: Նման հայտարարությամբ հանդես է եկել ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի արտաքին հարաբերությունների հանձնաժողովի նախագահ Կալիֆորնիան ներկայացնող հանրապետական Էդ Ռոյսը:
«Ճանաչումն անհրաժեշտ առաջին քայլն է արդարության և բուժման ճանապարհին: Հենց այդ պատճառով էլ ես հիասթափված եմ, որ նախագահ Օբաման խուսափել է օգտագործել «ցեղասպանություն» բառը իր ապրիլի 24-ի հայտարարության մեջ: Մտահոգիչ է նաև այն, որ նախագահի հայտարարության մեջ օգտագործվող բազմաթիվ եզրույթներ, ինչպես օրինակ «տառապանք», «պատմական տեղեկություն» կամ «ողբերգություն», օգտագործված են նաև Թուրքիայի նախագահ Էրդողանի հայտարարության մեջ: Իրականում, կարծում եմ, որ էթնիկական զտման ծրագրի որոշակի տարրեր շարունակվում ե ն նաև այսօր, հատկապես՝ կապված Թուրքիայում հայկական պատմական և կրոնական վայրերի ոչնչացման հետ»,- ասել է կոնգրեսական Ռոյսը` հիշեցնելով, որ հայկական մշակութային ժառանգության վերացման ծրագրի հեղինակը Էնվեր փաշան էր:
Նրա խոսքով` 1915թ-ից ի վեր վերացվել են բազմաթիվ գերեզմաններ, առգրավվել և թանգարանների ու կազինոների են վերածվել: «Միջազգային հանրությունը ձախողել է Թուրքային պատասխանատվության ենթարկելու գործում` ստեղծելով անպատժելիության մթնոլորտ, որում թուրքական իշխանությունները շարունակում են առգրավել սեփականություն, մասնավորապես Սուրբ Կիրակոս եկեղեցին: Մենք պետք է շարունակենք հակադրվել բոլոր նման քայլերին ու պաշտպանենք Թուրքիայի քրիստոնեական ժառանգությունը»,- ընդգծել է հանրապետական կոնգրեսականը: Նրա խոսքով` ԱՄՆ պետք է նաև քայլեր ձեռնարկի պաշտպանելու համար հայ քրիստոնյաներին, ովքեր այսօր դարձել են թիրախ Սիրիայում: Ռոյսը նաև կոչ է արել Կոնգրեսին և նախագահի վարչակազմին ճանաչել ԻՊ-ի կողմից գործած հանցագործությունները որպես ցեղասպանություն:
«Անցյալը լավ չուսումնասիրողները դատապարտված են այն կրկնելու: Նրանք, ովքեր չեն ցանկանում ճանաչել անցյալի ցեղասպանությունները, կույր են նաև ներկայում տեղի ունեցող ցեղասպանությունների հանդեպ: Ուստի, հիշելով 20-րդ դարի առաջին ցեղասպանության զոհերին` եկեք վերահաստատենք մեր հանձնառությունը նրանց ժառանգների ազատութունն ու անվտանգությունն ապահովելու հարցում: Միայն այդպես վարվելով իրականում կհարգենք Հայոց ցեղասպանության անմեղ զոհերի հիշատակը»,- ամփոփել է Էդ Ռոյսը:
