Ազգային վիճակագրական ծառայության տվյալներով՝ 2016թ. հունվարի 1-ի դրությամբ Հայաստանի բնակչության թվաքանակը կազմում է 2 միլիոն 998 հազար 600 մարդ: Ի դեպ, քաղաքային բնակչության թիվը կազմել է 1 միլիոն 907 հազար մարդ, իսկ գյուղականը՝ 1 միլիոն 91 հազար 600 մարդ: Միայն Երեւան քաղաքում բնակվում է 1 միլիոն 73 հազար 700 մարդ:

Ըստ վիճակագրության՝ ամենից բնակեցվածն Արմավիրի մարզն է՝ 266 հազար 600 մարդ: Նրան մի փոքր զիջում են Արարատի եւ Կոտայքի մարզերը՝ համապատասխանաբար 258 հազար 900 եւ 253 հազար 900 մարդ: Ամենից քիչ բնակեցվածը Վայոց ձորի մարզն է, որտեղ ընդամենը 50 հազար 800 մարդ է հաշվառվել:

Ինչ վերաբերում է մարզերում մարդկանց բաշխմանն ըստ գյուղական եւ քաղաքային համայնքների, ապա միայն Շիրակի եւ Կոտայքի մարզերում է, որ այս երկու թվերն իրար մոտ են գտնվում: Այսպես, Շիրակի մարզի քաղաքներում բնակվում է 142 հազար մարդ, իսկ գյուղերում՝ 101 հազար 200 մարդ: Իսկ Կոտայքում քաղաքային բնակչության թիվը կազմում է 137 հազար 900 մարդ, գյուղականը՝ 116 հազար: Վիճակագրությունն անդրադարձել է նաեւ Երեւան քաղաքին՝ ըստ վարչական շրջանների:

Դիտելով այն՝ ստանում ենք հետեւյալ պատկերը՝ Շենգավիթը, Նոր Նորքը, Մալաթիա-Սեբաստիան, մայրաքաղաքի ամենաբնակեցված շրջաններն են՝ համապատասխանաբար 139 հազար 100, 130 հազար 300 եւ 135 հազար 900 բնակիչով: Մի փոքր պակաս թիվ է կազմել Էրեբունի եւ Կենտրոն վարչական շրջանների բնակչության թիվը՝ առաջինը 126 հազար 500 մարդ, երկրորդը՝ 125 հազար 700 մարդ: Ամենից քիչ բնակիչներ ունենք Նուբարաշեն եւ Նորք-Մարաշ վարչական շրջաններում: Վիճակագրության համաձայն՝ այս շրջանների բնակչության թիվը կազմում է համապատասխանաբար 9 հազար 800 եւ 11 հազար 800 մարդ:
