Հայաստանի երկու թեթև ատլետ այս օրերին գտնվում են Սոչիում և նախապատրաստվում են մայիսի 14-ին Աթենքում կայանալիք Օլիմպիական խաղերի վարկանիշային մրցաշարին:

 «Արմենպրես»-ը, վկայակոչելով Հայաստանի ատլետիկայի ֆեդերացիան, հաղորդում է, որ, բացի Աթենքի մրցաշարից, հայ թեթև ատլետները մասնակցելու են նաև Ալբանիայի մայրաքաղաք Տիրանայում մայիսի 21-ին կայանալիք Օլիմպիական խաղերի վարկանիշային 2-րդ մրցաշարին:

«Մայիսի 28-ին և 29-ին կայանալու է նաև Հայաստանի թեթև ատլետիկայի առաջնությունը, որը նույնպես վարկանիշային կարգավիճակ ունի: Համապատասխան օլիմպիական վարկանիշ նվաճելու դեպքում Ռիո դե ժանեյրոյի օլիմպիական խաղերին հայ թեթև ատլետիկայի մասնակիցները կարող են ավելանալ: Չենք ուզում բացառել, որ այստեղ էլ մեր մարզիկներից ոմանք նույնպես վարկանիշ ձեռք բերեն»,- «Արմենպրես»-ի հետ զրույցում ասաց Հայաստանի ատլետիկայի ֆեդերացիայի գլխավոր քարտուղար Նարինե Շահբազյանը` հավելելով, որ Հայաստանը նախնական 2-3 ուղեգիր կունենա, սակայն ուղեգրերի թիվը կարող է իսկապես փոփոխվել` դառնալով անգամ 4-5:

Ըստ Հայաստանի ատլետիկայի ֆեդերացիայի գլխավոր քարտուղարի՝ ամեն ինչ կախված կլինի հայ թեթև ատլետների մրցելույթներից և գրանցած արդյունքներից. «Սպորտում չի կարելի բացառել, որ հնարավոր է հավելյալ վարկանիշներ ունենալ: Եթե ոչինչ չստացվի, կունենանք սպիտակ քարտի հնարավորություն, այն էլ վազքային մարզաձևում»:

Ներկայում Օլիմպիական խաղերի ուղեգրեր նվաճելու հիմնական թեկնածուները երկուսն են` Լևոն Աղասյանը (եռացատկորդ) և Ամալյա Շառոյանը (հեռացատկ): Հենց նրանք էլ այս օրերին գտնվում են Սոչիում: հնարավորություններ ունեն նաև նիզականետորդ Մելիք Ջանոյանը, հեռացատկորդ Գոռ Ներկարարյանը, վազքային ձևերից` Դիանա Խուբեսերյանը և Լիլիթ Հարությունյանը:
