Ինչու՞ Լոնդոնի քաղաքապետ ընտրվեց մահմեդական թեկնածուն

Սեփական քաղաքապետի ընտրության հարցում շարքային լոնդոնցու մոտեցումներն առավել ընդհանրական կերպով ընկալելու և գնահատելու համար՝ առաջարկում եմ առավել համակողմանիորեն դիտարկել երևույթն: Հեգնել՝ թե «լոնդոնցին քաղաքապետ ընտրեց մահմեդական պակիստանցուն», կամ՝ շատ ավելի ազդեցիկ հնչեղությամբ՝ «Եվրոպայի կարևորագույն մայրաքաղքներից մեկում՝ Լոնդոնում, քաղաքապետ ընտրվեց մահմեդական թեկնածուն», անխոս, այնքան էլ ճիշտ չէ:
Եթե լոնդոնցու ընտրությունը դիտարկում ենք զուտ անձնային համակրանքի հարթությունում՝ առանց հաշվի առնելու կուսակցական-գաղափարախոսական իրողություններն (լեյբորիստն ընդդեմ պահպանողականի), ապա, անհարժեշտ է հասկանալ՝ ու՞մ միջև է անցկացվել ընտրությունը:
Այսինքն՝ սոցիալական և կրոնագաղափարական մոտեցումների համատեքստում, լոնդոնցին պետք է ընտրություն կատարեր ծագումով գերմանացի հրեա 41-ամյա միլիարդատեր (բրիտանական խորհրդարանի ամենահարուստ պատգամավորն է) Ֆրենկ Զաքարիաս Ռոբինս (Զաք) Գոլդսմիթի և 46-ամյա պակիստանցի մահմեդական, անվիճելի ինտելեկտուալ, իրավաբան, իրավապաշտպան Սադիկ Խանի միջև: Արդյունքում՝ Լոնդոնն էական առավելությամբ քաղաքապետ ընտրեց լեյբորիստ թեկնածուին՝ Սադիկ խանին՝ վաստակելով նաև առաջին մահմեդական քաղաքապետն ունեցող եվրոպական մայրաքաղաքի տիտղոսը. վերոնշյալը՝ կրոնագաղափարական նաև քաղաքկրթական եզրաբանությամբ՝ լոնդոնցին ոչ թե դրսևորեց «մահմեականամետություն», այլ ընդամենը՝ պարզ «հակասեմականություն»:

Ի դեպ, մի մանրուք էլ, բայց բավական որոշիչ՝ շարքային լոնդոնցու կողմորոշման համար. երկու թեկնածուները նախընտրական քարոզարշավի ընթացքում հանձնել են «Լոնդոնը ճանաչելու» թեմատիկայով յուրօրինակ քննություն. Գոլդսմիթը տապալել է այն, իսկ Խանը՝ հաղթահարել գերազանցապես, ինչպես, ի դեպ, բոլոր համալսարանական քննությունները:
