Չորսօրյա պատերզազմը վերջին 22 տարիների ամենալուրջ իրադարձությունն էր: Այս մասին լրագրողների հետ զրույցում նշել է ՀՀ Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը Վիեննայից Երևան վերադառնալու ճանապարհին` անդրադառնալով այն հարցին, թե այս օրերին հատկանշական է նախագահի` որպես գերագույն գլխավոր հրամանատարի խոսքը, ինչի սպասի հայ զինվորը և հայ ժողովուրդն ընդհանրապես: «Ես կարծում եմ, որ այս օրերին մեր ժողովուրդը իմ խոսքի պակասը չի զգացել: Այո, ես ժողովրդին ուղիղ չեմ դիմել, բայց, կարծում եմ, որ այդ պահը դեռևս չի եկել: Բայց ես տարբեր առիթներով մեր ժողովրդի հետ խոսել եմ: Ես խոսել եմ, միգուցե պատասխանելով այլոց հարցերի: Կարծում եմ, որ մենք իրավունք չունենք իրադարձությունները արհեստականորեն առաջ մղելու»,- «Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ` ասել է Սարգսյանը:  Նրա խոսքով, իր ասածը չի նշանակում, որ չորսօրյա պատերզազմը շարքային բան է: Ավելին, ըստ նրա, դա իրականության մեջ վերջին 22 տարիների ամենալուրջ իրադարձությունն էր, եթե խոսքը վերաբերում է հրադադրի պայմանների խախտմանը, ռազմական գործողություններին:

«Բայց դեռևս որևէ մեկը ինձ 100 տոկոսով չի ասել, որ սա վատթարագույնն է: Ես գիտեմ մեր ժողովրդի համբերության չափը, շատ լավ ճանաչում եմ մեր ժողովրդին: Երբ նա կարիք ունենա, որ ես անմիջականորեն դիմեմ, խնդրեմ կամ համոզեմ, ես անպայման դա անելու եմ: Եվ այսօրվա մեր հանդիպումն էլ մաս է կազմում մեր ժողովրդի հետ երկխոսության: Ես գիտեմ, թե ումով ենք պաշտպանելու մեր երկիրը, ես գիտեմ, թե ումով ենք հասնելու Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի ժողովրդի ինքնորոշման իրավունքի իրացմանը»,-ընդգծել է Նախագահը:

Անդրադառնալով այն հարցին, թե շփման գծում վերահսկման մեխանիզմների ներդման ինչ ժամկետների մասին է խոսվում, նա տեղեկացրել է, որ համանախագհների համոզմամբ` օր առաջ պետք է հաստատվի մոնիտորինգի ռեժիմը:

«Կարծում եմ, որ շատ կարճ ժամանակահատվածում կավելանան ԵԱՀԿ անձնական ներկայացուցչի կարողությունները, անձնակազմը: Եվ որքան շուտ հաստատվի, այնքան լավ, որովհետև փոխադարձ մեղադրանքները գործին չեն օգնում, և անհրաժեշտ է հստակ ապացույց: Այս պարագայում ես կարծում եմ, որ մենք շահեկան դիրքում կլինենք, որովհետև ակնայտ է` երբեք մենք առաջինը չենք խախտում, որովհետև դա պարզապես մեզ պետք չէ»,-հավելել է ՀՀ Նախագահը: 

Վիեննայում մայիսի 16-ի երեկոյան Հայաստանի Հանրապետության Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը և Ադրբեջանի Հանրապետության նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևը մասնակցել են ԵԱՀԿ Մինսկի խմբի համանախագահող երկրների արտաքին գործերի նախարարների նախաձեռնությամբ և ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղար Ջոն Քերիի, ՌԴ արտգործնախարար Սերգեյ Լավրովի, Ֆրանսիայի եվրոպական հարցերով պետքարտուղար Արլեմ Դեզիրի մասնակցությամբ տեղի ունեցած քննարկմանը: Հանդիպմանը մասնակցել են երկու երկրների արտաքին գործերի նախարարներ Էդվարդ Նալբանդյանը և Էլմար Մամեդյարովը, դեսպաններ Իգոր Պոպովը (Ռուսաստան), Ջեյմս Ուորլիքը (ԱՄՆ), Պիեռ Անդրիոն (Ֆրանսիա) և ԵԱՀԿ գործող նախագահի անձնական ներկայացուցիչ Անջեյ Կասպրշիկը:
