Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի նախագահներ Սերժ Սարգսյանի և Իլհամ Ալիևի հանդիպումը Վիեննայում ճիշտ ուղղությամբ արված քայլ էր: Այս մասին լրագրողների հետ ամենօրյա ճեպազրույցի ընթացքում ասել է ԱՄՆ պետդեպարտամենտի խոսնակ Ջոն Քիրբին:
«Երկու նախագահները հանձն են առել հարգել հրադադարը, վստահություն հաստատելու ուղղությամբ կարևոր միջոցներ ձեռնարկել և հաջորդ ամիս վերսկսել բանակցությունները, որոնք կարող են հանգեցնել համապարփակ կարգավորման: Նրանք քաղաքական կամք դրսևորեցին` ստատուս-քվոյի շրջանակից դուրս գալու և այնպիսի քայլեր ձեռնարկելու համար, որոնցից կշահեն տարածաշրջանի ժողովուրդները»,- ասել է Քիրբին: Հիշեցնելով ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղար Ջոն Քերիի հայտարարությունը` նա վերահաստատել է ԱՄՆ հանձնառությունը` աջակցելու հակամարտող կողմերին:
«Սա դրական հանդիպում էր և ճիշտ ուղղությամբ արված քայլ: Այժմ ամեն ոք պետք է ծանր աշխատանք իրականացնի` իրենց հանձն առածը կյանքի կոչելու համար»,- ասել է պետքարտուղարության խոսնակը:
Լրագրողներից մեկի այն դիտարկմանը, որ Հայաստանն ու Լեռնային Ղարաբաղը, ի տարբերություն Ադրբեջանի, միշտ պատրաստ են եղել հրադադարի ռեժիմի խախտումները հետաքննող մեխանիզմների տեղադրմանը` Քիրբին կրկին հիշատակել է ընդունված համատեղ հայտարարությունը` կատարվածը դրական զարգացում որակելով:
