Ավիաթռիչքների անվտանգության ֆրանսիացի փորձագետները շատ հավանական են համարում պայթյունի վարկածը եգիպտական A-320 հանրանավում: «Ամենայն հավանականությամբ, օդում ինքնաթիռի կործանումը տեղի Է ունեցել շատ արագ: Դրա պատճառ կարող Էր դառնալ ինչպես տեխնոլոգիական պայթյունն, այնպես Էլ տեղադրված ռումբի պայթյունը: Պայթուցիկ նյութը կարող Էր, մասնավորապես, ինքնաթիռ տարվել ուղեւորների համար ուտելիքի հետ»,- BFM-TV հեռուստաալիքի եթերում այս կարծիքն Է հայտնել ֆրանսիացի փորձագետ, քաղաքացիական ավիացիայի նախկին օդաչու Ժերար Ֆելտզերը:
Նրա կարծիքով՝ ինքնաթիռում պայթյունի վարկածի օգտին Է վկայում այն փաստը, որ «կա՛մ օդաչուն չի հասցրել ոչ մի հաղորդում տալ, կա՛մ Էլ, եթե հավատանք ոչ պաշտոնական տվյալներին, հակիրճ հաղորդում Է տվել, որ ինքնաթիռն անկառավարելի Է: Այսինքն՝ ինքնաթիռում տեղի Է ունեցել իրադարձությունների սրընթաց զրագացում, որը բացահայտորեն ուղեկցվել Է ապարատի ապահերմետիկացմամբ»:
