Մինչև Դոնալդ Թրամփի հետ ծանոթությունը, Մելանին աշխատում էր որպես մոդել և վարում էր այլ կյանք, բնականաբար հաճախակի ժամանակ էր անցկացնում էլիտար երեկույթներին։ Սակայն ձեռք բերելով նոր կարգավիճակ՝ վերջինս փոխեց իր ապրելաոճը։

Վերջին ժամանակում լրագրողներին տրված հարցազրույցում Մելանին խոսել էր իր կյանքում տեղ գտած փոփոխությունների մասին։ Վերջինս խոսել էր նաև Մայքլ Ջեկսոնի հետ հանդիպման և վերջինիս առաջարկի մասին։

«Մի անգամ ես և Մայքլ Ջեկսոնը հանդիպել էինք Նյու Յորքի Pierre հյուրանոցում։ Մենք միասին ընթրեցինք, ինչից հետո բազմոցին նստած զրուցում էինք։  Իմ ամուսինը ինչ-որ տեղ էր գնացել, իսկ Մայքլը այդ պահին ինձ ասաց. «Երբ Թրամփը վերադառնա, արի սկսենք համբուրվել, որ նա խանդի»,- պատմեց Մելանիան և հավելեց, որ նա մերժեց Մայքլի առաջարկը, ինչից անմիջապես հետո նրանք սկսեցին բարձր ծիծաղել։

Հարցազրույցի ժամանակ Մելանիան մեկնաբանեց նաև այն, որ իր ամուսնուն համեմատում են Հիտլերի հետ։

«Մենք գիտենք իրականությունը։ Նա Հիտլերը չէ։ Նա ցանկանում է օգնել Ամերիկային։ Նա ցանկանում է համախմբել մարդկանց։

Նա չի հետապնդում մարդկանց իրենց կրոնական հայացքների համար։ Նա գտնում է, որ մենք պետք է տեղյակ լինենք, թե ով է գալիս մեր երկիր։ Եթե չիմանալ դա, ապա կարելի է ասել, որ իրականում պետություն էլ գոյություն չունի։ Նա ցանկանում է համախմբել երկիրը, համախմբել մարդկանց և վերադարձնել աշխատատեղերը»։

Այս մասին հայտնել է նախագահի թեկնածուի կինը և հավելել, որ հավանաբար իր ամուսինը պետք այդ ամենի մասին մի փոքր մեղմ խոսի։
