ՀՀԿ երիտասարդական կազմակերպության մշակութային հանձնաժողովի նախաձեռնությամբ տեղի ունեցավ մշակութային բուհերի ուսանողների հանդիպումն ամերիկացի երաժիշտ, երգահան Դանիել Դեքերի հետ։ Սա նրա 15-րդ այցելությունն է Հայաստան: Դեքերն առաջին անգամ այցելել է Հայաստան 2001թ.: Հենց այդ ժամանակ էլ սկսվել է նրա եւ կոմպոզիտոր Արա Գեւորգյանի համագործակցությունը:
 
ՀՀԿ երիտասարդական կազմակերպության փոխանցմամբ՝ երիտասարդների հետ հանդիպման ընթացքում ամերիկացի երաժիշտը խոսել է հայերի նկատմամբ տածած իր մեծ սիրո, Ցեղասպանության, իր թողարկած «Հայ եմ իմ ընտրությամբ» հայալեզու ձայնասկավառակի եւ այլ թեմաների մասին, պատասխանել երիտասարդների հարցերին։ Նշենք, որ նա առաջին ոչ հայ երաժիշտն է, որը թողարկել է ձայնասկավառակ բացառապես հայալեզու երգերով։
 
«Ժամանակին, հայերեն երգերի ժողովածու ձայնագրելու իմ մտադրության մասին լսելով, շատերը խորհուրդ էին տալիս չստանձնել նման բարդ գործ, սակայն ես կարողացա իրականացնել այս բացառիկ ծրագիրը, որը հայ դառնալու ճանապարհին իմ քայլերից մեկն էր»,- պատմել է երաժիշտը։
 
«Ես ծնունդով հայ չեմ, սակայն իմ ընտրությամբ եմ հայ: Ես հպարտորեն ձեր դիմաց նստած եմ ու կարող եմ ասել՝ ես ձեզանից մեկն եմ»,- ասել է Դեքերը և երիտասարդներին ցույց տվել 2015թ. ստացած իր հայկական անձնագիրը:
 
Խոսելով ապրիլյան պատերազմի մասին՝ ամերիկացի երաժիշտը նշել է, որ ինքը շատ լավ գիտի, թե ինչ նշանակություն ունի Արցախը հայ ժողովրդի համար։ «Հայաստանից, ԼՂՀ-ից դուրս գտնվող մարդիկ իրականում չգիտեն, թե ինչ է կատարվում Արցախում։ Ապրիլյան պատերազմի օրերին ես ֆեյսբուքում իմ հետեւորդներին գրառում թողեցի՝ ասելով՝ Արցախը պատմական հայկական հող է, որտեղ դարեր շարունակ ապրել են հայերը։ Եվ միակ պատճառը, որ ադրբեջանցիները նկրտումներ ունեն Արցախի նկատմամբ, բխում է ստալինյան քաղաքականությունից։ Ստալինը հենց այնպես Արցախը հանձնեց ադրբեջանցիներին, որի նպատակը Խորհրդային Միությունում ազգային ինքնության գաղափարը ջնջելն էր։ Սակայն այն հայկական տարածք է եւ իրավամբ հայերին է պատկանում։ Հայերը խաղաղություն սիրող մարդիկ են, բայց նրանք ունեն իրավունք՝ պայքարելու իրենց հողի համար»,- ասել է նա։
 
Հանդիպման ընթացքում նա նաեւ բացահայտել է իր առաջիկա ծրագրերը՝ նշելով, որ Արա Գեւորգյանի հետ ցանկանում է երգ նվիրել Արաքս գետին։ «Արաքսը հայության համար խորհրդանշական է: Եվ ուղերձը, որ ուզում եմ աշխարհին հասցնել, այն է, որ հայերն այսօր Մայր Արաքսի միայն մի կողմում են կարողանում կանգնել, սակայն այն հայկական գետ է, եւ մի օր հայերը հնարավորություն կունենան քայլել այդ գետի երկու կողմերով էլ»,- ասել է երաժիշտը:
 
Վերջում Դեքերը հանդիպմանը ներկա երիտասարդներին խորհուրդ է տվել պահպանել սեփական անհատականությունը, ազգային ինքնությունը, քանի որ հայկական մշակույթը շատ հարուստ է ու ինքնատիպ։
