Հյուսիսային Կորեայի բռնակալ Կիմ Չեն Ինի մորաքույրը, որն արդեն 18 տարի ապրում է ԱՄՆ-ում, առաջին անգամ խոսել է մամուլի ներկայացուցիչների հետ: Այդ մասին ավելի մանրամասն հրապարակվել է The Washington Post-ում:
«Այստեղ իմ ընկերներն ինձ ասում են, որ ես շատ հաջողակ եմ, որ ես ամեն ինչ ունեմ: Իմ երեխաները հաճախել են լավագույն դպրոցները, նրանք շատ բանի են հասել: Ես նաև ամուսին ունեմ, որը կարող է ամեն ինչ հաղթահարել: Ես նախանձելու առիթ չունեմ»,- ասել է նա լրագրողներին:
Կո Յոն Սուկը և Ռի Գանը, որոնք Հյուսիսային Կորեայում դիվանագետներ են աշխատել, 1998 թվականին որոշել են փախչել: Կո Յոն Սուկի հարազատ քույրը նախկին առաջնորդ Կիմ Չեն Իրի կինն է, որը հիվանդ է եղել քաղցկեղով: Զույգը հասկացել է, որ երբ նա մահանա, իրենք այլևս պետք չեն լինի, և որոշել են փախչել ԱՄՆ:
Կո Յոն Սուկն ապրում է Նյու Յորքից ոչ հեռու, ունի 3 երեխա: Նա ամուսնու հետ ունի չոր մաքրման ծառայություն: Նա նաև համագործակցում է ԿՀՎ-ի հետ՝ օգնելով ճանաչելու երկրի նախկին ղեկավարության այս կամ այն անդամներին:
