Արցախի Հանրապետության Նախագահ Բակո Սահակյանը հունիսի 10-ին այցելել է Բելգիայի Մեխելեն քաղաք: Նախագահը հանդիպել է քաղաքապետ Բարտ Զոմերսի, փոխքաղաքապետ Մարկ Հենդրիքսի եւ մի շարք պաշտոնյաների հետ: Հանդիպման ընթացքում քննարկվել են Մեխելենի եւ Արցախի փոխգործակցությանն առնչվող հարցեր: Այս մասին«Արմենպրես»-ին տեղեկացրին Արցախի Հանրապետության Նախագահի աշխատակազմի տեղեկատվության գլխավոր վարչությունից:
Նախագահ Սահակյանը նշել է, որ արցախյան եւ տարբեր երկրների քաղաքների ու շրջանների միջեւ կապերի հաստատումն ու զարգացումը հանդիսանում է երկկողմ համագործակցության առանցքային ուղղություններից մեկը,հատկապես՝ տնտեսական, մշակութային, գիտակրթական եւ մարդասիրական ոլորտներում:
Նախագահի պատվին Մեխելենի քաղաքապետարանում կազմակերպվել է պաշտոնական ընդունելություն, որին մասնակցում էին նաեւ մի շարք հայկական կազմակերպությունների ներկայացուցիչներ:
Նույն օրը Նախագահն այցելել է Մեխելեն քաղաքում Հայոց ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակին նվիրված խաչքար-հուշարձան եւ ծաղկեպսակ դրել այնտեղ:
Բակո Սահակյանը կարեւորել է նման հուշարձանների առկայությունը տարբեր երկրներում՝ նշելով դրանց դերակատարությունը հայոց ցեղասպանության միջազգային ճանաչման եւ անմեղ զոհերի հիշատակը հավերժացնելու տեսանկյուններից:
