Երբ Ռիդ Հերրիսը (Reed Harris) որոշեց խնդրել Քեյթլին Ուիպպլի (Kaitlin Whipple) ձեռքը, նա հարսնացուին և հյուրերին հրավիրեց սրճարան: Մատանին որոշեց «թաքցնել» աղջկա կոկտեյլի մեջ: Իսկ ոչինչ չկասկածող Քեյթլին խմեց կոկտեյլը մատանու հետ միասին: Աղջկան տեղափոխեցին հիվանդանոց: Մատանին «դուրս եկավ» երկու օրից: Հաավանաբար Քեյթլին ամբողջ կյանքում չի մոռանա այս առաջարկությունը, բայց Ռիդի հետ նա այնուամենայնիվ ամուսնացավ:
Լոնդոնի բնակիչ Լեֆկոս Հեյդժին (Lefkos Hajji) ցանկանալով իր հարսնացուին առաջարկություն անել, որոշեց $12000 արժողությամբ ադամանդե մատանին պահել օդապարիկի մեջ: Մտածում էր. կհանձնի օդապարիկը, աղջկան կխնդրի այն ծակել, բնականաբար փուչիկը կպայթի և անակնկալը պատրաստ է: Որ իրադարձությունները կարող են այլ կերպ զարգանա՝լ Լեֆկոսը չէր էլ մտածում: Երբ երիտասարդը դուրս եկավ խանութից, ուժեղ քամին նրա ձեռքից քշեց տարավ թանկարժեք փուչիկը: Լեֆկոսը սարսափած հետևում էր, թե ինչպես փուչիկը ավելի ու ավելի է հեռանում՝ իր հետ տանելով իր մատանին և փողերը: Նա երկու ժամ փորձում էր մեքենայով հետապնդել փուչիկին, սակայն ամեն ինչ զուր էր. փուչիկը վեր բարձրանալով՝ տեսահորիզոնից անհայտացավ: Հարսնացուն իմանալով պատահածի մասին դադարեց խոսել փեսացուի հետ և նոր մատանի պահանջեց: Գուցե՞ իզուր չէր, որ փուչիկը թռավ:
Ուսուցիչ Դոն Ուոլլինգը (Don Walling) որոշեց իր ընկերուհուն՝ Ջինա Պելլիկանին (Gina Pellicani) առաջարկություն անել ամբողջ ընտանիքի ներկայությամբ: Սակայն ամենապատասխանատու պահին մատանին Ուոլլինգի ձեռքից վայր ընկավ և կամրջի ճեղքից ցած գլորվեց ճանապարհի երթևեկելի հատված: Փեսացուն չշփոթվելով համբուրեց հարսնացուին և վազեց մատանին որոնելու: Երջանիկ պատահականությամբ դա նրան հաջողվեց:
Չինացի Չեն (Chen) ցանկանալով հարսնացուի վրա անջնջելի տպավորություն թողնել, որոշեց մատանին պահել տորթի մեջ: Չենը խոստովանեց, որ այդ միտքն իրեն հուշել էին ռոմանտիկ ֆիլմերը: «Ես պատկերացրեցի, թե ինչպիսի հաճելի անակնկալ կլինի նրա համար»,- հետագայում, արդեն ափսոսանքով, ասում էր նա լրագրողներին: Սակայն աղջիկը կուլ տվեց մատանին, ուշաթափվեց և նրան տեղափոխեցին հիվանդանոց: Չնայած պատահարին, աղջիկը ընդունեց Չենի առաջարկությունը. չէ՞ որ նա այդքան ռոմանտիկ է:
