Թուրքիայի հետ հարաբերությունների հաստատումն ու կարգավորումը Եվրամիությունից պահանջում են եւ նրա հետ համերաշխության դրսեւորում, եւ քննադատություն այդ երկրի նկատմամբ: Այս մասին հայտարարել է Եվրոպական խորհրդի նախագահ Դոնալդ Տուսկը:
Նշելով խոսքի եւ մամուլի ազատության խախտումների անթույլատրելիության մասին, Տուսկն ընդգծել է Թուրքիայի կարեւորությունը որպես ԵՄ գործընկեր՝ միգրացիոն խնդրի լուծման հարցում: Տուսկը նաեւ ուշադրություն է հրավիրել Թուրքիայում տիրող բարդ իրավիճակին՝ կապված ամեն շաբաթ տեղի ունեցող ահաբեկչությունների եւ Սիրիայի, Իրաքի ու Իրանի հետ չամրապնդված սահմանների հետ:
«Դրա պատճառով մենք պարտավոր ենք Թուրքիային հայտնենք եւ մեր համերաշխությունը, միաժամանակ քննադատենք նրան»,-ասել է Տուսկը՝ գերմանական Bild-ին տված հարցազրույցում:
Մեկնաբանելով Թուրքիայի հետ վիզային ռեժիմը հանելու հարցը, նա կրկնել է, որ բանակցությունների արդյունքը, որոնք կտեւեն մինչեւ հոկտեմբեր, կախված է Թուրքիայի կողմից ԵՄ պահանջների կատարումից, սակայն գործընթացում առաջընթաց նկատվում է:
Եվրոպական խորհրդի նախագահը նաեւ նշել է, որ պետք չի Գերմանիան դիտարկել միակ երկիրը, որը կանգնած է միգրանտների հետ կապված իրավիճակի խորացման ճանապարհին: «Այլ երկրներ եւս՝ կախված իրենց բնակչության թվից, բազմաթիվ միգրանտների են ընդունել: Գերմանիայի մենակ չեն թողել եւ պետք չէ նրան ներկայացնել որպես տառապյալ: Դա նույնքան սխալ է, որքան միգրացիոն ճգնաժամի համար մեղադրել երկրի սահմանները բացելու մեջ»,-պարզաբանել է Տուսկը:
Ինչ վերաբերում է Բրիտանիայում ԵՄ կազմից դուրս գալու հարցով հանրաքվեին, Տուսկը նշել է, որ իր կարծիքով, «ԵՄ-ն կհաղթահարի դա, թեեւ թանկ գին կվճարի»: Նա նաեւ ընդգծել է, որ ԵՄ կազմից Բրիտանիայի դուրս գալու հիմնական վտանգն այն է, որ նման որոշումը անկանխատեսելի երկարաժամկետ հեռանկարներ կարող է բերել:
«Որպես պատմաբան, ես մտավախություն ունեմ, որ Brexit-ը կարող է փլուզման սկիզբ դառնալ ոչ միայն Եվրամիության, այլեւ Արեւմտյան աշխարհի ողջ քաղաքական քաղաքակրթության համար»,-ասել է Տուսկը՝ հավելելով, որ Բրիտանիայում ԵՄ կազմից դուրս գալու կողմնակիցները նույնպես սխալվում են՝ հույս ունենալով, որ երկրի կյանքը չի փոխվի:
