Վերջին օրերին համաշխարհային մամուլը խոսում է մոտ ապագայում Կանադայի և Իրանի միջև 2012թ.-ից ընդհատված դիվանագիտական հարաբերությունների վերականգնման և երկու երկրների դեսպանատների վերաբացման հավանականության մասին: Ըստ տարբեր աղբյուրների` նշված խնդրի լուծման նպատակով երկու երկրների միջև սկսվել են պաշտոնական բանակցություններ Նյու Յորքում:
Այնուամենայնիվ կան որոշակի խնդիրներ, որոնք կասկածի տակ են դնում երկու երկրների միջև հարաբերությունների վերականգնումը մոտ ապագայում`
1) Այն պահին, երբ ընթանում են բանակցություններ հարաբերությունների վերականգնման շուրջ, Կանադայի Գերագույն դատարանը առգրավում է կանադական բանկերում գտնվող Իրանին պատկանող 13 միլիոն դոլար` հօգուտ ահաբեկչության զոհերի:
2) Կանադայում դեռ չեն մոռացել կանադական քաղաքացիություն ունեցող իրանցի լրագրող Զահրա Քազեմիի մահվան մասին Թեհրանի Էվինի բանտում, որին գումարվել էլ է այժմ էլ արդեն դարձյալ իրանական արմատներ ունեցող և Կանադայի քաղաքացի, սոցիալ-մշակութային մարդաբանության բնագավառի հետազոտող Հոմա Հուդֆարի ձերբակալությունն Իրանում:
3) Չնայած պաշտոնական բանակցությունները մեկնարկել են, սակայն Կանադայի արտաքին գործերի նախարար Ստեֆան Դիոնը, խոսելով Կանադայի և Իրանի միջև հարաբերությունների վերականգնման հավանականության մասին, ասել է, որ Կանադային դեռևս անհանգստացնում են այնպիսի խնդիրներ` կապված Իրանի հետ, ինչպիսիք են «ահաբեկչության հովանավորումը Իրանի կողմից, մարդու իրավունքների ոտնահարումն Իրանում, նաև Բաշար Ասադին հովանավորելը»:
