Մեծ Բրիտանիայի վարչապետ Դեւիդ Քեմերոնը, Լեյբորիստական կուսակցության առաջնորդ Ջերեմի Քորբինը եւ խորհրդարանի Համայնքների պալատի խոսնակ Ջոն Բերքոուն ժամանել են Լիդսի մերձակա Բյորսթոլ բնակավայր (Ուեստ Յորքշիրի կոմսություն)՝ միասին հարգելու հունիսի 16-ին այնտեղ սպանված լեյբորիստ պատգամավոր Ջո Քոքսի հիշատակը:

Ամբողջ երկրում այսօր անցկացվում են հիշատակի միջոցառումներ: Լոնդոնում խորհրդարանի շենքի մոտ ծաղիկների սար Է բարձրանում, որոնք բերում են Քոքսի գործընկերներն ու բրիտանացի քաղաքացիներ, որոնք անձամբ չեն ճանաչում Քոքսին, բայց ցնցված են նրա մահից:

Մեծ Բրիտանիայի խորհրդարանի պատգամավորի սպանությունը դարձել Է առաջինը 1990 թվականից ի վեր եւ առաջին անգամ Է բռնության զոհ դարձել կին: Ոչ պաշտոնական տեղեկատվությամբ՝ Քոքսի վրա հարձակվել Է ոմն 52-ամյա Թոմաս Մայր: «Բրիտանիան ամենից վեր» բացականչություններով, ինչպես պնդում են տեղական զանգվածային լրատվամիջոցները, նա սկսել Է ծեծել կնոջը եւ հարվածներ հասցնել դանակով, այնուհետեւ, նրան գետին տապալելով, դիմահար կրակել Է երեք անգամ: 

Երկու երեխաների մայր 41-ամյա Քոքսն ստացած վերքերից մի քանի ժամ անց մահացել Է Լիդսի հիվանդանոցում: Սկսվել Է հետաքնննություն, հարձակվողը ձերբակալված Է, նրա գործողությունների դրդապատճառները պարզվում են:   

«Ջոն զոհվեց՝ կատարելով իր պարտականությունները՝ լսելով եւ ներկայացնելով այն մարդկանց շահերը, որոնց համար նա ընտրվել Էր ծառայելու: Մոտ օրերս պետք Է պատասխան տրվի այն հարցերին, թե նա ինչպես եւ ինչու մահացավ»,- ասել Է Լեյբորիստական կուսակցության առաջնորդ Ջերեմի Քորբինը:

Իր հերթին, Բուքինհեմի պալատի ներկայացուցիչը հայտարարել Է, որ Մեծ Բրիտանիայի Եղիսաբեթ Բ թագուհին իրազեկվել Է այս աղմկահարույց սպանության մասին՝ ընդգծելով, որ Միացյալ Թագավորության միապետը նամակ կգրի մասնավոր կարգով՝ հասցեագրված Բրենդան Քոքսին: 

Պատգամավորը հայտնի Էր որպես Սիրիայում քաղաքացիական պատերազմի զոհերի պաշտպանության ակտիվ կողմնակից, անցյալ տարվա աշնանը նա քվեարկել Է արեւմտյան կոալիցիային Մեծ Բրիտանիայի միանալու դեմ, կոալիցիա, որը դիմակայում Է Սիրիայի Արաբական Հանրապետության տարածքում «Իսլամական պետություն» ահաբեկչական խմբավորմանը: Քոքսը մտնում Էր այն լեյբորիստների թեւի մեջ, որոնք հանդես են գալիս 28 պետությունների հանրակցությանը երկրի անդամակցության ճակատագրի հարցի շուրջը հանրաքվեի արդյունքներով Եվրամիության կազմում Միացյալ Թագավորության մնալու օգտի:   

Պատգամավորի սպանության կապակցությամբ Եվրամիությունում երկրի ստատուս քվոյի պահպանման կողմնակիցներն ու հակառակորդները որոշում են ընդունել դադարեցնել քարոզչական արշավները հանրահարցման նախաշեմին, որը նախատեսված Է հունիսի 23-ին, հաղորդել Է ՌԻԱ Նովոստին:
