«Հռոմի պապի այցելությունը մեծապես ոգևորել է ոչ միայն հայաստանյան քաղաքական և հոգևոր դասին, այլ նաև մտավորականներին: Քանդակագործ Ֆերդինանտ Առաքելյանը Պապի այցի առիթով հատուկ նվեր է պատրաստել նրա համար:

Դա մի մեծածավալ արձան է, որ մեր ժողովրդի անունից նվիրելու է Ֆրանցիսկոս պապին:

Քանդակի վրա Առաքելյանն աշխատել է շուրջ երկու ամիս՝ գիշեր-ցերեկ:

Դա արձանախումբ է, որտեղ կա 170 ֆիգուր: Կենտրոնում կենաց ծառն է՝ որպես կյանքի շարունակության խորհրդանիշ: Քանդակի աջ կողմում Ամենայն հայոց կաթողիկոսն է, ձախ կողմում՝ Հռոմի պապը, որի կողքին կանգնած է ռուս ուղղափառ եկեղեցու առաջնորդ Կիրլ Առաջինը՝ իր համախոհներով, նրանց կողքին են մուսուլման աշխարհի հոգևորականները: Վեհափառի կողմից կանգնած են հրեա հոգևոր առաջնորդները, հետո՝ նաև բուդդայականները: Քանդակը կոչվում է «Լռության րոպե»:

«Այդ բոլորը եկել են ծառի մոտ՝ մեկ րոպե լռությամբ հարգելու ոչ միայն Հայոց, այլև աշխարհի ցեղասպանությունների զոհերի հիշատակը: Հռոմի պապն էլ է գլուխը կախ կանգնել: Բոլորը քարացած կանգնած են մեր հայ ժողովրդի հետ, իսկ հայ ժողովրդին քանդակել եմ լեռների միջից ելնող: Ամբողջ իմաստն այն է, որ աշխարհի ամբողջ քաղաքակիրթ ժողովուրդը կանգնած է և մեկ րոպե լռությամբ հարգում է Ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակը»,-պատմում է Ֆերդինանտ Առաքելյանը:

Արդեն որոշված է, թե երբ և որտեղ պետք է ներկայացվի աշխատանքը Հռոմի պապին. դա կլինի պաշտոնական արարողություններց մեկի ժամանակ:

«Հռոմի պապից բացի, բոլորը նայել են ու հիացել»,-ասում է Առաքելյանն ու ընդգծում, որ որոշվել է մինչև Վատիկան տանելն այն ցուցադրել նաև Երևանում, որպեսզի ժողովուրդն էլ տեսնի: Իսկ վերջնական արդյունքում արձանը բրոնզից է ձուլվելու»,-գրում է թերթը:
