Կնոջ և տղամարդու միջև հարաբերությունները մշտական քննարկումների թեման են: Ամերիկացի գիտնականները մի քանի տարի շարունակ հետազոտել և ուսումնասիրել են կնոջ և տղամարդու միջև հարաբերությունները և բավական ուշագրավ բացահայտումներ արել:

Առաջին հերթին գիտնականները վերահաստատել են, որ իսկապես կարող է ընկերական հարաբերություններ լինել տղամարդու և կնոջ միջև: Համաձայն կատարված հարցումների` արական սեռի ներկայացուցիչները կանանց հետ ընկերությունը բարձր են գնահատում: Տղամարդիկ նաև համոզված են, որ նման ընկերությունից իրենք ավելի շատ են հաճույք ստանում, քանի օրինակ ինչ-որ մեկի հետ զուտ քնելուց:

Կանայք էլ իրենց հերթին պնդում են, որ տղամարդկանց հետ կարող են կատակել և զրուցել առանց որևէ նախանձի, նենգ նկատառումների և հիասթափությունների: Մյուս կողմից էլ տղամարդու հետ ընկերությունը կնոջը պաշտպանվածության զգացում է տալիս և դա այն դեպքն է, երբ տղամարդուն կինը անվանում է եղբայր:

Այս առումով գիտնականները նշում են հինգ տաբուներ, որոնցից պետք է խուսափել, եթե տղամարդիկ և կանայք ուզում են ունենալ իսկական ընկերական հարաբերություններ:

1.      Սեր- այնտեղ, որտեղ առկա է նման զգացում, իսկական ընկերության մասին խոսելն արդեն ավելորդ է

2.      Ֆլիրտ- սեթևեթանքը իրական ընկերության հետ որևէ կապ չունի

3.      Սեքս- ինտիմ կապը կործանում է ընկերական հարաբերությունները

4.  Անձնական կյանքին խառնվելը- ընկերների մեջ կարող է տեղի ունենալ սիրային հարցերի քննարկումներ, սակայն ոչ երբեք դատապարտումներ

5.      Դավաճանություն- վստահության կորուստը անջնջելի հետք է թողնում ընկերական հարաբերությունների վրա
