Մեծ ուրախություն է ինձ համար գտնվել այստեղ, հպվել այս հույժ սիրելի հայկական աշխարհի հողին, այցելել հինավուրց և հարուստ ավանդույթներ ունեցող մի ժողովրդի, ով քաջությամբ է վկայել իր հավատքը, ով շատ է տառապել, բայց վերածնվել է միշտ։

 

« …Մեր երկինքը մուգ, ջրերը ջինջ, լիճը լուսե, Արևն ամռան ու ձմեռվա վիշապաձայն բուքը վսեմ, … հազարամյա քարն … աղոթք դարձած երկաթագիր գրերը մեր» (Եղիշե Չարենց, «Ես իմ անուշ Հայաստանի»): Սրանք մի քանի հզոր պատկերներ են, որոնք Ձեր հռչակավոր բանաստեղծը մեզ է ընծայում՝ լուսավորելու համար մեզ Հայաստանի պատմության խորության և բնության գեղեցկության մասին: Դրանք քիչ խոսքերի մեջ ամփոփում են մի ամբողջ ժողովրդի փառավոր և ողբերգական փորձառության արձագանքն ու խտությունը և տոգորող սերը Հայրենիքի հանդեպ:

Սրտանց երախտապարտ եմ Ձեզ, պարոն Նախագահ, Հայաստանի Կառավարության և բնակչության անունից ինձ ուղղված Ձեր բարի գալուստի սիրալիր խոսքերի համար, ինչպես նաև ինձ հնարավորություն ընձեռելու համար՝ Ձեր ազնիվ հրավերի շնորհիվ, փոխադարձելու անցյալ տարի Վատիկան կատարած Ձեր այցը, երբ Սուրբ Պետրոսի տաճարում՝ Ծայրագույն Պատրիարք և Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոս Ն.Ս.Օ.Տ.Տ. Գարեգին Բ-ի և Մեծի Տանն Կիլիկիո Կաթողիկոս Ն.Ս.Օ.Տ.Տ. Արամ Ա-ի, և Տանն Կիլիկիո Կաթողիկե հայոց Պատրիարք երջանկահիշատակ Ն.Ե.Ներսես Պետրոս XIX-ի հետ միասին, ներկա գտնվեցիք հանդիսավոր արարողությանը։ Այդ առիթով հիշատակվեց Մեծ Եղեռնի 100-րդ տարելիցը, որը հարվածեց ձեր ժողովրդին և որը անչափ անհամար զոհեր պատճառեց։ Այդ ողբերգությունը, ցավոք, գլխավորեց անցյալ դարի անմարդկային աղետների տխուր ցուցակը, որոնք իրականացվեցին ցեղապաշտական, գաղափարախոսական և կրոնական մոլորեցնող շարժառիթներով և որոնք մթագնեցին մարդասպանների միտքը, ովքեր նպատակադրվեցին ոչնչացնելու մինչև իսկ ամբողջ ժողովուրդներ։
