Հռոմի Ֆրանցիսկոս Պապի հայաստանյան այցի առաջնային նպատակը հիշեցնելն էր, որ նա գալիս է քրիստոնեությունը՝ որպես պետական կրոն ընդունած հենց առաջին երկիր։«Արմենպրես»-ի հետ զրույցում նման կարծիք հայտնեց Շվեյցարիայի խորհրդարանի փոխնախագահ, Շվեյցարիա-Հայաստան խորհրդարանական խմբի համանախագահ Դոմինիկ դը Բյումանը։ «Նա համաշ խարհային ազդեցություն ունի։ Անում է այն, ինչ ասում է, եւ հակառակը, ասում է այն, ինչ անում է։ 2015 թվականի ապրիլին Հռոմի Սուրբ Պետրոս տաճարում  նա շատ հստակորեն ճանաչեց ցեղասպանությունը. սա այնքան հզոր էր, որ այլեւս հետքայլ չկար։ Եվ պարզ է, որ իզուր չէր նրա՝ 3 օր Հայաստանում անցկացնելու որոշումը։ Նա ցանկանում էր նաև մեկ անգամ եւս հիշեցնել, որ գալիս է առաջին քրիստոնյա երկիր՝ սիրո, խաղաղության եւ համերաշխության իր պատգամն ասելու»,- ասաց Շվեյցարիայի խորհրդարանի փոխնախագահը։

Նրա խոսքով՝ ցեղասպանության առումով Պապի դիրքորոշումը միանշանակ պարզ է։ «Նա խնդիր չուներ ցեղասպանություն բառը կրկին արտաբերելու, նա ապացուցելու ոչինչ չուներ, քանի որ դա արդեն արել էր եւ շատ ավելի դժվար տեղում: Նա ցանկանում է ասել, որ բոլոր ցեղասպանություններն էլ պետք է ճանաչել, հայտարարել, դատապարտել. նրանք, որոնք ճանաչված չեն մինչեւ այսօր եւ մանավանդ քրիստոնեական ժողովուրդների դեմ,  որոնք ամբողջ աշխարհում ամենատուժածներն են»,- ընդգծեց նա։

Դոմինիկ դը Բյումանը նշեց, որ Հայաստանի համար Հռոմի Պապը ստեղծում է արտաքին հարաբերություններ, փորձում է վերացնել այն խոչընդոտները, որոնք դրսից են գալիս: «Նա ցանկանում է, որ իր համերաշխության պատգամը տեղ հասնի։ Այդ պատգամը որեւէ խոչընդոտ չի կարող ստեղծել Հայաստանի հարեւանների համար, քանի որ այն երկու խնդիր է կրում իր մեջ՝ զորակցություն բոլոր քրիստոնեական ժողովուրդներին եւ բոլոր ազգերի միջեւ համերաշխության պահանջ ։ Նա խտրականություն չի դնում, եւ սա է նրա ուժը. սերը չի կարող բաժանվել միայն որոշ մարդկանց միջեւ, դա համաշխարհային արժեք է»,- եզրափակեց Շվեյցարիայի խորհրդարանի փոխնախագահը։

Ֆրանցիսկոս Պապը Հայաստան է ժամանել հունիսի 24-ին` «Այց առաջին քրիստոնեական երկիր» խորագրով: Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնում մասնակցել է Բարիգալստի Հրաշափառի արարողությանը: Պապը հյուրընկալվել է ՀՀ նախագահի նստավայրում, առանձնազրույց ունեցել նրա հետ, ելույթ ունեցել ՀՀ իշխանությունների, հասարակության, դիվանագիտական կորպուսի ներկայացուցիչների հետ հանդիպմանը: Հունիսի 25-ին Հռոմի Սրբազան Քահանայապետ Ֆրանցիսկոս Պապն այցելել է Ծիծեռնակաբերդ՝ Հայոց ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակին նվիրված հուշահամալիր: Նույն օրը Պապը Գյումրիում պատարագ է մատուցել լատինական ծեսով`համեմված հայկական շարականներով: Երեկոյան Հանրապետության հրապարակում Հռոմի Ֆրանցիսկոս Պապի և Ամենայն Հայոց կաթողիկոս Գարեգին Երկրորդի մասնակցությամբ տեղի է ունեցել խաղաղության աղոթք և էկումենիկ արարողություն: Հունիսի 26-ի առավոտյան Մայր Աթոռի Սուրբ Տրդատ բաց խորանում մատուցվել է Սուրբ պատարագ` Ամենայն Հայոց Գարեգին Բ կաթողիկոսի ձեռամբ և Սրբազան քահանայապետ Հռոմի Ֆրանցիսկոս պապի աղոթակցությամբ: Մայր Աթոռ Սբ Էջմիածնում ստորագրվել է համատեղ հայտարարություն, որից հետո Սրբազան քահանայապետը և Ամենայն ՀայոÖ Գարեգին Բ կաթողիկոսը այցելել են նաև հայ ժողովրդի և Հայ Առաքելական Սուրբ եկեղեցու համար կարևորագույն սրբավայրերից մեկը՝ Խոր Վիրապ: Այնտեղ միասին աղոթելուց հետո նրանք աղավնիներ են բաց թողել Արարատի ուղղությամբ: Նույն օրը Պապը մեկնել է Վատիկան:
