Բազուկը շատ քիչ է օգտագործվում որպես դեղարայքային դեղաբույս: Չնայած որ վերջինիս բուժիչ հատկությունների մասին կարելի է անվերջ խոսել: Դեռ հին բուժակներն այն օգտագործում էին տարբեր հիվանդությունների համար նախատեսված դեղամիջոցների պատրաստման մեջ: Հիպոկրատը ևս խոսում էր բազուկի, որպես  մի շարք  հիվանդություններից բուժման համար օգտագործվող միջոցի մասին:

 Բազուկը պարունակում է բետադին, որը օգնում է քայքայել ու մարսել սպիտակուցային սնունդը: Ավելին, բետադինը մասնակցում է խոլինի արտադրությանը, որը բարձրացնում է լյարդի բջիջների երկարակեցությունն ու բարելավում է վերջինիս աշխատանքը:

Բազուկի արմատապտուղը պարունակում է շաքար, սպիտակուցներ, պեկտին, օրգանական թթուներ, С, В1, В2, Р, РР վիտամիններ, մի շարք հանքանյութեր, այդ թվում երկաթ, կալիում, յոդ, միկրոէլեմենտներ, որոնք մտնում են ֆերմենտների բաղադրության մեջ ու կարգավորում են արյան շրջանառութան  գործընթացը:

Ավելին, բազուկը պարունակում է կենսաբանորեն ակտիվ նյութ ՝բետանին, որը կանխում է չարորակ ուռուցքների զարգացումը:

• Արմատապտղի բջջանյութն ուժեղացնում է աղիների գալարակծկումներն ու այդ պատճառով բազուկը շատ օգտակար է ու հանդես է գալիս որպես թեթև թուլացնող միջոց   քրոնիկ փորկապության դեպքում:

• Շնորհիվ նրանում առկա յոդի պարունակության  այն շատ օգտայկար է աթերոսկլերոզով հիվանդների ու տարեց մարդկանց համար: Այն իջեցնում է զարկերակային արյան ճնշումը, որը հնարավոր է լինում կատարել նրանում առկա  մեծ քանակությամբ աղի ու  մագնեզիումի շնորհիվ:

• Արմատապտղից պատրաստված շիլան դնում են ուռուցքնների ու խոցերի վրա, եթե նրանցում առկա է բորբոքային գործընթաց:

• Ժողովրդական բժշկության մեջ զարկերակային բարձր ճնշման դեպքում, ինչպես նաև որպես հանգստացնող միջոց խորհուրդ է տրվում օրական 3-ից 4 անգամ  օգտագործել հավասար քանակությամբ իրար հետ խառնված կես բաժակ  բազուկի հյութն ու մեղրը:

• Միգրենի դեպքում խորհուրդ է տրվում ականջի վրա դնել  կարմիր բազուկի հյութի մեջ թրջված բամբակյա թրջոց:

• Ցրտահարությունից հետո մաշկի վրա առաջացած ճաքերի համար խորհուրդ է տրվում օգտագործել բազուկի եփուկն ու հյութը:

• Գլխացավի դեպքում խորհուրդ է տրվում բազուկի տերևները դնել ճակատի վար:

• Մանրացված տերևներն օգտակար է դնել բորբոքված աչքերի վրա:

• Ատամի ցավի մեղմացման համար  կարելի է բորբոքված ատամի վրա դնել   հում բազուկ:
