 Սիրիայի խնդրով ՄԱԿ-ի հատուկ դեսպանորդ Ստաֆան դե Միստուրան Դամասկոսի եւ ընդդիմության միջեւ բանակցությունները կվերսկսի այն ժամանակ, երբ վստահ կլինի, որ այդ քննարկումները հաջող արդյունքի հասնելու «լավ շանսեր կունենան»: Այդ մասին նա հունիսի 29-ին հայտարարել է լրագրողներին՝ ամփոփելով ՄԱԿ-ի Անվտանգության խորհրդում կայացած փակ խորհրդակցության արդյունքները:

Հանձնակատարը հայտնել է, որ ԱԽ-ի անդամների հետ հանդիպման ընթացքում բանակցությունների վերսկսման կոնկրետ ամսաթիվ չի նշել, քանի որ սպասում է Ռուսաստանի եւ ԱՄՆ-ի՝ Սիրիայի աջակցման միջազգային խմբի համանախագահների եւ մյուս հանգուցային խաղորդների միջեւ կոնսուլտացիաների ավարտվելուն: Նրա կարծիքով՝ այդ կոնսուլտացիաների արդյունքը պետք է դառնա այն «կրիտիկական զանգվածը», որը թույլ կտա արդեն օգոստոսին սկսել Սիրիայում քաղաքական վերափոխումների գործընթացը:

Դե Միստուրան հաստատել է, որ դեռեւս ծրագրում է բանակցությունները վերսկսել հուլիս ամսվա ընթացքում, բայց «ոչ ամեն գնով», այլ միայն եթե լինեն հաջող արդյունքի հասնելու «ինչ-ինչ երաշխիքներ»:

Հատուկ դեսպանորդը հայտնել է, որ հունիսի 30-ին ինքը կուղեւորվի Վաշինգտոն, որտեղ ԱՄՆ-ի պաշտոնատարների հետ կոնսուլտացիաներ կանցկացնի՝ շարունակելով այն քննարկումները, որոնք նա հունիսի կեսերին անցկացրել է Սանկտ Պետերբուրգում, հաղորդել է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
