Այն կանայք, որոնք բեղմնավորումից առաջ ասպիրին են ընդունում, անհամեմատ ավելի հաճախակի են տղա ունենում: Նման հետաքրքրաշարժ եզրահանգման են եկել Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development-ի հետազոտողները (ԱՄՆ):

Նրանց խոսքով, ասպիրինի ընդունումն ինչ-որ եղանակով մեծացնում է հենց տղա ունենալու շանսերը: Նախկինում վիժում ունեցած կանանց նկատմամբ դիտարկումների ընթացքում գիտնականները նկատել են, որ կանանց մոտ ավելի հաճախ են տղաներ ծնվում, եթե նրանք բեղմնավորման պահին ասպիրին են ընդունել:  Այն կանանց խմբում, որոնք պլացեբո են ընդունել, տղաների եւ աղջիկների քանակը մոտավորապես նույնն էր եղել:  

Նախորդ հետազոտությունները ցույց էին տվել, որ հաճախակի վիժումները կապված են լինում արգանդում բորբոքային գործընթացների հետ: Կարծիք կա, թե կնոջ իմունային համակարգը զարգացող սաղմն ընկալում է որպես օտարածին օբյեկտ եւ հարձակվում է դրա վրա բորբոքային բաղադրիչներով եւ իմունային բջիջներով: Այդ բորբոքումները հետագայում կարող են կնոջը խանգարել տղա կրել, որովհետեւ արական սեռի պտուղներն ավելի խոցելի են համարվում: 

Լրացուցիչ արտաքին այնպիսի գործոններ, ինչպիսիք են սթրեսը, օդի աղտոտումը կամ բեղմնավորման ընթացքում ծխելը կապված են ծնվող տղաների թվի կրճատման հետ, ինչն ապացուցում է արական սեռի սաղմերի խոցելիությունը: 

Ասպիրինը նեստերոիդ հակաբորբոքային դեղ է, որը կիրառվում է բորբոքումների, տենդի եւ ցավի դեմ, ինչպես նաեւ արյան հեղուկացման համար: Երեւում է, հենց դրա հակաբորբոքային էֆեկտն է նպաստում հաջող բեղմնավորմանը եւ տղաների ծննդին: 

Մի քանի փոքր հետազոտություն ցույց է տվել, որ ասպիրինի ընդունումը մեծացնում է հղիությունների թիվն այն կանանց շրջանում, որոնք ԱՄԲ են անցնում: Վերջին հետազոտության ընթացքում գիտնականները վիժման պատմություն ունեցող   1228 կնոջ ասպիրինի ցածր չափաբաժիններ են տվել սեքսով զբաղվելուց առաջ կամ էլ պլացեբոյի հաբեր (ֆոլաթթվով):
