Կանեփը կարող է օգտագործվել Ալցհայմերի հիվանդությունը բուժելու նպատակով

Ըստ գիտական ուսումնասիրության՝ կանեփը կարող է պայքարել Ալցհայմերի հիվանդությունն առաջացնող թունավոր պրոտեինների դեմ: Այս ուսումնասիրությունը տալիս է որոշակի հուշում, թե ինչպես կարելի է թերապևտիկ միջամտությամբ բուժել Ալցհայմերի հիվանդությունը: Ուսումնասիրության նախնական արդյունքները հրապարակվել են Aging and Mechanisms of the Disease հանդեսում:
Կալիֆոռնիայի Սալկի համալսարանի գիտնականները կանեփի մեջ գտել են տետրահիդրոկաննաբինօլ (THC) և այլ միացություններ, որոնք կարող են հեռացնել Ալցհայմերի հիվանդության հետ ասոցացվող թունավոր պրոտեինը, որը հայտնի է ամիլոիդ-բետա անունով:
Ուսումնասիրության հեղինակ Անտոնիո Կուրրիասը բացատրում է. «Ալցհայմերի հիվանդության տված ամենամեծ վնասը ուղեղում բորբոքում առաջացնելն է: Այնուամենայնիվ, մենք միշտ անցյալում ենթադրել ենք, որ այս բորբոքումը գալիս է ուղեղի իմունային բջիջներից և ոչ թե հենց նյարդային բջիջներից:
Երբ մենք հայտնաբերեցինք ամիլոիդ-բետայի բորբոքումի մոլեկուլային հիմքը, մենք հասկացանք, որ նյարդային բջիջներ ստեղծած THC-ի նման միացությունները կարող են փրկել բջիջներին մեռնելուց»:
Համահեղինակ պրոֆեսոր Դեյվիդ Շուբերտն ասում է. «Չնայած այլ ուսումնասիրություններ նույնպես պնդում էին, որ հավանական է, որ կանեփը Ալցհայմերի հիվանդության համախտանիշների դեմ նեյրոպաշտպան դեր կատարի, սակայն մեր ուսումնասիրությունն առաջինն է, որ ապացուցում է, որ կանաբինոիդները կարող են ազդել նյարդային բջիջներում բորբոքման և ամիլոիդ-բետայի կուտակման վրա»:
Ալցհայմերի հիվանդությունը մտավոր հիվանդության ամենատարածված տեսակն է: Այն ունի պրոգրեսիվ վիճակ և ժամանակի ընթացքում ավելի է բարդանում: Դա ֆիզիկական հիվանդություն է, որ վնասում է ուղեղը և կարող է հանգեցնել հիշողության կորստի, խոսքի դժվարության, և այլ խնդիրների:
Միայն Մեծ Բրիտանիայում այս հիվանդությամբ տառապում են մոտ 520.000 մարդ:
