Եվրոպայի առաջնության եզրափակչում Ֆրանսիայի հավաքականը «Ստադ դե Ֆրանս» մարզադաշտում մրցում էր Պորտուգալիայի հետ: Հիմնական ժամանակում դարպասի գրավում չարձանագրվեց: 

 

Առաջին խաղակեսում ծավալվել էր գրեթե հավասար պայքար, սակայն տարածքային առավելությունը Դիդյե Դեշամի թիմի օգտին էր: Կիսապաշտպան Դիմիտրի Պայեի հետ բախման ժամանակ վնասվածք էր ստացել պորտուգալացիների առաջատար Կրիշտիանու Ռոնալդուն: «Ոսկե գնդակի» եռակի դափնեկիրը փորձեց մի քանի անգամ շարունակել հանդիպումը, սակայն 25-րդ րոպեին փոփոխություն խնդրեց:

 

Երկրորդ խաղակեսում կրկին Ֆրանսիան ակտիվ էր գործում ու մի քանի վտանգավոր պահեր ստեղծեց, սակայն հիանալի գործեց մրցակցի դարպասապահ Ռուի Պատրիսիուն: Ավելացված ժամանակի երկրորդ րոպեին Անդրե-Պյեր Ժինյակը հիանալի հնարքով ձերբազատվեց Պեպեի հսկողությունից, սակայն նրա հարվածը դիպավ դարպասաձողին:

 

Մարկ Կլատենբուրգի ավելացված երկրորդ խաղակեսի մեկնարկում Էդերը հեռու տարածությունից կատարած արտակարգ հարվածով գրավել է Ուգո Լյորիսի դարպասը՝ չեմպիոնություն պարգևելով իր թիմին:
