Որքան քիչ է քնում մարդը, այնքան ավելի շատ է նա ուտում, վկայում են Journal of Health Psychology-ում հրապարակված հետազոտության արդյունքները: Ինչպես նշում են Նեբրասկայի Համալսարանի գիտնականները, չափից ավելի ուտելը կարող է հանգեցնել առողջական լուրջ խնդիրների, ինչպիսիք են`ճարպակալությունը, 2-րդ տեսակի շաքարախտը և սրտի հիվանդությունները:
Բանն այն է, որ քնի պակասը և հոգնածությունն ազդում են ախորժակի հետ կապված հորմոնների վրա: Այսպես, անքուն գիշերից հետո գրելինի`սովածության հորմոնի մակարդակները բարձրանում են: Միաժամանակ նկատվում է լեպտինի`հագեցվածության հորմոնի մակարդակի նվազում, որի միջոցով օրգանիզմը ազդանշաններ է հաղորդում այն մասին, որ սնունդ այլևս հարկավոր չէ:
Հոգնածության վիճակում մարդիկ զգում են էմոցիոնալ սթրես և ավելի իմպուլսիվ են: Այդ ամենը կարող է հրահրել նրանց ‹‹խնդիրների հոշոտմանը›› և թեկուզ համեղ, բայց վնասակար սննդամթերքների օգտագործմանը: Չափից շատ ուտելը կարող է նաև թելադրված լինել օրգանիզմի`հոգնածության հետ կապված էներգիայի պակասի կոմպենսավորման ձգտմամբ:
