Կյանքի 91-րդ տարում կյաքից հեռացել է մանրէաբան, կենսաբանական գիտությունների դոկտոր (1970), պրոֆեսոր (1972), ՀՀ ԳԱԱ ակադեմիկոս (1982) ՀՀ գիտության վաստակավոր գործիչ Էվրիկ Աֆրիկյանը:
էվրիկ Գեղամի Աֆրիկյանը ծնվել է 1925, մայիսի 14-ին Երևանում: 1947թ. ավարտել է Երևանի բժշկական ինստիտուտը։ 1947թ. աշխատել է ՀՀ ԳԱԱ մանրէաբանության բաժանմունքում (1961թ.՝ ինստիտուտ), 1953-1958 թթ.՝ գիտքարտուղար, 1958թ.՝ լաբորատորիայի վարիչ, 1963 թվականից՝ տնօրեն, 2000թ.՝ պատվավոր տնօրեն։ 1993-2006թթ. եղել է «Մանրէների ավանդադրման հանրապետական կենտրոնի» տնօրեն։ 1994թ. ՀՀ ԳԱԱ բնական գիտությունների բաժանմունքի հիմնախնդիրների խորհրդի նախագահն է։ 1977թ. եղել է Հայաստանի «Կենսաբանական հանդեսի» գլխավոր խմբագիրը։ 1993-1998 թթ. եղել է Եվրոպական Համայնք ի ԻՆՏԱՍ ասոցիացիայի գիտնականների խորհրդի անդամ, 1981-1987 թթ.` Մանրէների Հավաքածուների Համաշխարհային Ֆեդերացիայի գործադիր խորհրդի անդամ, 1980-1990 թթ.` Բակտերիոլոգիայի դասակարգման Միջազգային կազմակերպության բացիլների ենթակոմիտեի անդամ, 1970-1975 թթ.` Համամիութենական միկրոբիոլոգիական միության փոխնախագահ: Աշխատանքները վերաբերում են ընդհանուր և կիրառական մանրէաբանության, կենսատեխնոլոգիայի հարցերին, հատկապես աերոբ սպորավոր բակտերիաների էկոլոգիային, դասակարգմանն ու կիրառությանը։ Մշակել է նոր տեխնոլոգիաներ տարբեր մանրէային պատրաստուկներ ի արտադրության համար։ Ուսումնասիրել է հակաբիոտիկների ու հակազդիչ (անտագոնիստ) մանրէների կիրառումը բուսաբուծության և շերամապահության մեջ։ Ղեկավարել է ոչ մետաղական պոլիմերների կենսակայունության ուսումնասիրման համալիր աշխատանքները։ Մեծ ներդրում ունի ՀՀ-ում մանրէաբանական արդյունաբերության ստեղծման ու զարգացման գործում։ Արժանացել է բազմաթիվ պարգևների: Նա հեղինակել է բազմաթիվ, այդ թվում «Пенизиллин и его применения в медицине», «Энтомопотогенные бактерии и их значение» աշխատությունները:
