Ֆեթուլլահ Գյուլենը կապ չի ունեցել Թուրքիայում ռազմական հեղաշրջման վերջին փորձի հետ։ Այս մասին հուլիսի 20-ին կայացած մամուլի ասուլիսի ժամանակ ասել է Հայաստանի ԳԱԱ Արեւելագիտության ինստիտուտի տնօրեն, թուրքագետ Ռուբեն Սաֆրաստյանը։

Նրա խոսքով՝ իհարկե, եղել են գնդապետներ, որոնք աջակցում են «Գյուլենի շարժմանը»։ «Բայց ես չեմ կարծում, որ հեղաշրջման փորձը ղեկավարում էր Գյուլենը։ Հեղաշրջման փորձը զինվորականների ինքնապաշտպանության փորձ էր, քանի որ տվյակներ կան, որ Էրդողանը պատրաստվում էր Բարձրագույն ռազմական խորհրդի նիստ հրավիրել, եւ շատ բարձրաստիճան պաշտոնյաներ պետք է կորցնեին իրենց պաշտոնները կամ ձերբակալվեին»,– ասել է Սաֆրաստյանը։

Հիշեցնենք, որ Թուրքիայի ներկա ղեկավարությունը հեղաշրջման փորձի մեջ մեղադրում է ԱՄՆ-ում բնակվող թուրք գրող, նախկին իմամ ու քարոզիչ ֆեթուլա Գյուլենին:

Հուլիսի 15-ի երեկոյան Թուրքիայի ղեկավարությունը հայտարարել էր երկրում պետական հեղաշրջման մասին: Արդեն հուլիսի 16-ի առավոտյան զինվորականները սկսել են հանձնվել: Թուրքիայի իշխանությունները ավելի ուշ հայտարարել են, որ հեղաշրջման փորձը ձախողվել է: Ապստամբության հետեւանքով, Թուրքիայի իշխանությունների տվյալներով, 290 մարդ է զոհվել: Շատ փորձագետների կարծիքով այդ հեղաշրջումը կարող էր հրահրված լինել հենց Թուրքիայի նախագահ Էրդողանի կողմից՝ երկրում լայնածավալ ռեպրեսիաներ սկսելու նպատակով:
