ԱՄՆ կոնգրեսական Ջիմ Կոստան պայքարելու է ԱՄՆ կողմից Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման համար

ԱՄՆ կոնգրեսական Ջիմ Կոստան վստահեցնում է՝ պայքարելու է Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման համար այնքան ժամանակ, քանի դեռ նա Կոնգրեսում է:
«Սա իմ առաջին այցն է Հայաստան, եւ կարող եմ ասել, որ ինչ-որ տեղ ես տուն եմ եկել: Ես կյանքիս մես մասը գործ եմ ունեցել հայերի հետ եւ զգում եմ հանրության մի մասը: Անընդմեջ հետեւել եմ այն մարտահրավերներին, որոնց երկիրն առերեսվել է Խորհրդային միության փլուզումից հետո, եւ առանձնահատուկ կապ եմ զգում այս երկրի հանդեպ, քանի որ Ֆրեզնոյից եմ, որը համարում եմ Վիլյամ Սարոյանի երկիրը»,- «Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ՝ Հայաստանի ամերիկյան համալսարանում կազմակերպված հանրային դասախոսության ընթացքում ասաց կոնգրեսականը՝ հավելելով, որ Ֆրեզնոյում հատկապես իրեն դուր են գալիս մարդիկ:
«Ֆրեզնոն Ամերիկայում կրում է այն բոլոր դրական բաները, որոնք ունենք Կալիֆորնիայում եւ ընդհանրապես Ամերիկայում, եւ իհարկե բազում մարտահրավերներ: Այն, ինչ հատկապես հավանում եմ Ֆրեզնոյում, մարդիկ են, ովքեր ներգաղթյալների եւ՛ անցյալն են, եւ՛ ներկան: Հայերը առաջին անգամ Ամերիկա են եկել 1881 թվականին, սակայն հատկապես 1915 թվականի Հայոց ցեղասպանությունից հետո նրանց հոսքը շատացել է. նրանք եկան Ամերիկա իրենց եւ իրենց ընտանիքի համար ավելի լավ կյանք կերտելու ցանկությամբ»,-նշեց Ջիմ Կոստան՝ հիշեցնելով, որ Ֆրեզնոյի պետական համալսարանը Ամերիկայի միակ համալսարանն է, որտեղ կանգնեցված է Հայոց ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակին նվիրված հուշարձան հատկապես այն մարդկանց համար, ովքեր մոռանում են պատմությունը:
Անդրադառնալով հայ-ադրբեջանական հարաբերություններին՝ նա նշեց, որ ԱՄՆ-ն պետք է աշխատի առկա խնդրի առնչությամբ:
«Տեղյակ եմ Ադրբեջանի հետ կապված իրավիճակից, եւ կարող եմ ասել, որ սա, իրոք, մտահոգիչ մարտահրավեր է, որին առերեսվում են հայերը: Արդյոք հնարավոր է համաձայնության գալ խաղաղ հարաբերություններ ձեւավորելու հարցում, հարցական է շատերի համար: Ես իմ մասով անելու եմ ամեն ինչ ավելի լավ կամուրջներ կառուցելու համար»,-եզրափակեց Ջիմ Կոստան:
