Մի անգամ «Մարս» (Mars) շոկոլադի գործարանի սեփականատեր Ֆրենկ Մարսը որոշում է շոկոլադե սալիկների նոր սերիա արտադրել և նոր մթերքն անվանում է իր սիրելի ձիու անունով՝ Սնիկերս (Snickers): Ի դեպ, ասում են, որ ձին սատկել է Սնիկերսի զանգվածային արտադրությունից մի քանի ամիս առաջ:

Շոկոլադե սալիկի հիմքը կազմում է նուգայի հիմքի վրա պատրաստված լցոնը՝ ծածկված գետնանուշով և շոկոլադով, պատված կաթնային շոկոլադով: Այս դասական բաղադրությունը 1930 թվականից ի վեր անփոփոխ է:

Ուսումնասիրությունների համաձայն՝ Սնիկերսը երիտասարդների շրջանում ամենասիրված շոկոլադե սալիկն է: Յուրաքանչյուր վայրկյանում աշխարհում ուտում են 400 Սնիկերս: Ամեն 5-րդ դեռահաս ամեն օր Սնիկերս է գնում:

Յուրաքանչյուր շոկոլադե սալիկի համար օգտագործվում է 16 գետնանուշ: Եթե հաշվի առնենք, որ օրական արտադրվում է մոտ 15 միլիոն Սնիկերս, օրական դրանց վրա ընդհանուր առմամբ ծախսվում է մոտ 99 տոննա գետնանուշ:

Հետաքրքիր է, որ Մեծ Բրիտանիայի և Իռլանդիայի տարածքում Սնիկերսը սկզբում վաճառվել է Մարաթոն (Marathon) անունով: Այդպես տևել է մինչև 1990 թվականը, երբ Մարսը որոշել է, որ շոկոլադե սալիկն ամբողջ աշխարհում պետք է ունենա նույն անունը:

Սնիկերսի կալորիականությունը 100 գրամի համար կազմում է 507 կկալ: Բարձր կալորիականության շնորհիվ, չնայած փոքր չափսերի, այն արագ հագեցնում է:

Ի դեպ, հենց այդ պատճառով Սնիկերսը բավականին տարածված է դարձել ռազմական գործողությունների ժամանակ: Չեչենական պատերազմի ժամանակ այս շոկոլադե սալիկները գրոհայինների սիրելի կերակուրն էին, իսկ Պարսկական ծոցի պատերազմի ժամանակ Սնիկերսով սնվում էիմ ամերիկացի զինվորները:

Մի անգամ բժիշկներն ահազանգում են, թե քաղցրի ամենօրյա օգտագործումը բացասական է ազդում մարդկանց առողջության վրա: Այդ ժամանակ արտադրողները որոշում են Սնիկերսի զանգվածը նվազեցնել 7%-ով, սակայն գինը թողնում են նույնը: Նրանց խոսքով՝ դա արվել է հատուկ մարդկանց առողջության մասին հոգատարությունից ելնելով:

Սակայն, մտածելով մարդկանց առողջության մասին, Սնիկերսի արտադրման ծավալը չի կրճատվել: Եթե 5 րոպեի ընթացքում արտադրված շոկոլադե սալիկները դարսվեն միմյանց վրա, դրանց բարձրությունը կհասնի Էյֆելյան աշտարակի բարձրությանը:
