Մի գործարար, որը մեծ պարտքեր ու վարկեր ուներ, չէր կարողանում ելք գտնել իրավիճակից։ Նա նստել էր այգում, գլուխը խոնարհել եւ մտածում էր, թե ինչը կարող է օգնել նրան փրկել իր ընկերությունը սնանկացումից։ Հանկարծ նրա դիմաց հայտնվում է մի ծերուկ եւ ասում.
- Տեսնում եմ՝ ինչ-որ խնդիր ունեք։
Լսելով գործարարի պատմությունը՝ ծերուկը հարցնում է նրա անունը եւ մի կտրոն գրում ու տալիս նրան.
-Վերցրեք այս գումարը։ Կհանդիպենք մեկ տարի անց հենց այստեղ, եւ դուք կկարողանաք ինձ վերադարձնել այս գումարը։
Ասելով սա՝ ծերուկն անհետանում է այնպես անսպասելիորեն, ինչպես հայտնվել էր։ Գորոծարարը տեսնում է, որ ծերուկը նրան 500000 դոլարի կտրոն է տվել եւ ստորագրել Ջոն Ռոքֆելեր՝ այդ ժամանակաշրջանում ամենահարուստ մարդկանցից մեկի անունով։ Իհարկե, գործարարը մեկ ակնթարթում կարող էր լուծել իր բոլոր խնդիրները, սակայն դրա փոխարեն նա կտրոնը դնում է չհրկիզվող պահարանի մեջ։ Միայն այդ կտրոնի առկայությունը ուժ է տալիս նրան փրկել իր բիզնեսը։ Լավատեսությամբ ներշնչված՝ նա կնքում է ձեռնտու պայմանագրեր, սկսում մարել պարտքերը եւ մի քանի ամիս անց մեծ շահույթ ստանում։ Մեկ տարի անց գործարարը՝ կտրոնը ձեռքին, գնում է նույն այգին եւ սպասում ծերուկին։
Անսպասելիորեն ծերուկը հայտնվում է։ Երբ գործարարը ցանկանում է վերադարձնել կտրոնը եւ պատմել կատարվածը, մոտենում է բուժքույրը եւ ասում.
-Ինչ լավ է, որ կարողացա նրան գտնել։ Հուսով եմ՝ ձեզ չի անհանգստացրել։ Նա հաճախ է տանից փախչում ու բոլորին ասում, որ նա Ջոն Ռոքֆելերն է։
Գործարարը ապշած էր։ Մի ամբողջ տարի նա գործարքներ է կնքել՝ վստահ լինելով, որ կես միլիոն դոլար ունի իր պահարանում։ Եվ հանկարծ հասկանում է, որ անկախ այն հանգամանքից իրական են դրանք, թե ոչ՝ այդ գումարը փոխեց նրա կյանքը, ուժ եւ վստահություն ներշնչեց նրան, որպեսզի կարողանա հասնել այն ամենին, ինչ այժմ ունի։
Այո, ինքնավստահությունը բավականին մեծ դեր կարող է ունենալ վճռորոշ իրավիճակներում։ Հետեւաբար, նախաձեռնությունը վերցրեք ձեր ձեռքը եւ խաղացեք ձեր խաղը։
